I slowly reached out and found the bed beside me was empty. I looked toward the bathroom, the door was open, and I didn’t hear any rustling. I slowly poked my head over the railing to look downstairs and didn’t see any movement. As I was looking around the room, a piece of paper leaning up against the lamp caught my eye.
