Seven months later. Mildred I wait for the shifters to sleep before sneaking into their room; I slither quietly up to them and watch them for a while. How many times have I contemplated killing them? Too many to count. Watching Aldrick sleep as I’ve done for years makes me realize I’ve gotten used to these smelly beasts. They really have grown on me. Not so much Emma, but I’ll allow her to live too, only because Aldrick loves her, and she gave birth to an original. I silently chuckle, thinking about her. It’s odd that the dominant lycan couldn’t sense what I am, but this runt could. She hasn’t trusted me from the start, and she shouldn’t. Oh, she couldn’t actually figure out what I am, but she can sense something is different about me. I hop on the end table and shift into my form.
