I'm not sure how I got back in my room. I'm still focused on my hand. My fingertips tingle. And it's not the only thing tingling right now. I turn back around, almost convincing myself to go back and stake my claim on that beast. I stop at the door, listening to my pounding heart, and then rest my forehead on the door.
