Chapter 16: Enemies

1530 Words

As the four of us sat at the table that was meant for eight, waiting for the other four Mintons, my mind swirled. I had Marion to my left and a space to my right, which Heratio would surely take. She chatted quietly with my dad, they whispered together.  "Lucia?" said Marion next to me.  "Hm?" I asked, staring down at my coffee. "You looked kind of dormant, sorry." she said. "Can I ask something?" "Depends what kind of 'thing', but sure, go ahead." I replied.  "Okay, so," she said, fumbling with her fingertips as she spoke with gestures. "There's this guy at school-" I started grinning. "Awwww."
