Several books were open on various pages, as she tried to glean whatever information she could about the Cockatrice. The problem was, as Kitto had already mentioned, it was difficult to determine what was fact and what was fiction.
Legend said that it hatched out of an egg laid by a cockerel that was incubated by a serpent. This was the opposite to the Basilisk, which was supposed to come from a serpent’s egg that was incubated by a cockerel. Kiera wasn’t convinced, although, at the present time, she had no alternative theories as to how the dragon was born.
