Chapter EightCaden stood on a raised terrace in front of a grand mansion, and quietly surveyed the extensive grounds that surrounded him. Before him lay green lawns and perfectly pruned hedgerows leading down to a lake with a small wooden jetty. Beyond the lake was a large copse of trees. It was a beautiful view, but it irked him that one person should own so much land. He was momentarily transported back to his own childhood. A childhood that seemed as though it must have belonged to someone else; one that was many moons ago and involved a boy he no longer recognised. A boy who did as he was told; a boy plagued by nightmares, who lived his life trying to please others. His thin lip curled upwards in disdain. He was glad that boy was gone. He closed his eyes and let his mind wander back
