Chapter ThirteenKiera’s gaze was immediately drawn to the bed in the far corner of the room. A lamp next to it cast a faint pool of light over a woman with long, dark hair perched on the side of the bed. She was fully dressed in jeans and t-shirt and wore black sandals on her feet, despite it being the middle of the night. She was clutching a tatty, brown satchel tightly to her chest. The woman smiled as they entered, as though she had been expecting them. Kiera couldn’t take her eyes off the woman’s face and would’ve made her way straight across the room to her if Jack hadn’t pulled her back.
