Love Bombing

“The alpha is back,” one of them rushed to inform me where I was sitting in the room. Immediately, I closed the book in my hands and rushed out of the room to see for myself. I wasn’t going because I loved or missed him; I just wanted to kick off my plan without hesitation. I only had ten days to make him lose his guard and disappear from his life. I walked towards the pack’s entrance, my heart racing with a mix of different emotions. Normally, I wouldn’t bother welcoming him back because he didn’t let me know he was traveling in the first place, but my plan required me to put on a show of affection. As I approached the gate, I stopped and took a few deep breaths, mentally preparing myself for the role I was about to play. “It’s all part of my plan,” I reminded myself that I need to make him believe I was ready to accept him even though it would be a difficult task. I saw him emerging from the distance and my heart skipped a beat as I watched him approach the main entrance. His confident strides and powerful presence didn’t go unnoticed. Immediately, I forced a warm smile on my face and began to walk towards him. My eyes were tightly locked in his and I could feel the tension between us. He didn’t break the gaze and watched me close the gap between us confidently without any amusement. “My Alpha, welcome back.” I tried to sound husky and smooth, took a deep breath and continued, “I missed you.” His eyes narrowed at my words as his forehead folded into a frown. That didn’t erase my smile; it was well expected so I wasn’t fazed. He stood there staring at me for a moment as the tension thickened. The maids there and his beta were all surprised to hear such a thing from me, considering the amount of tantrums I had thrown to make it clear that I would never be his mate. All of a sudden, his face relaxed into a slow smile and he closed the gap between us. Still locking eyes with me, he responded, “I missed you too.” These words sent a shiver down my spine and I almost flinched. We both knew there was a hidden sarcasm in his response as his lips curled into a smirk. “Were you expecting that kind of response?” My smile disappeared instantly and his own lightened up his face. I should have known he wouldn’t buy the act easily. My eyes rolled but I quickly cautioned them and gave another fake smile. “You have said it; that’s enough.” I remarked and turned to linked arms with him slowly He thought I was done? This was just the beginning. I adjusted his draped robe and linked arms with him as we walked to his chamber. He didn’t refuse the gesture and just ignored the several gasps from the maids and other onlookers. As we marched down the lane, my eyes landed on Naomi, who was watching from a distance, but I didn’t care. Her dark eye shadow was basking and glowing in the sun as she gave me a look filled with hatred. **** “You can now quit your act. What exactly do you want?” his hand flung mine away as soon as we entered his mansion A light cough cleared my throat as my hands went to my back. “What do you mean? I am just here to welcome you. You know you went on a long journey.” The lies were flowing better than I expected He looked into my eyes once again and began to move closer. I took a step back but he took a giant stride. “You want me to read through your mind right now?” My hands flew to my chest as if that would cover my mind. As an alpha, he had the power to do so and if I provoke him, he will catch me without even starting my plan. “You can do what you like with me,” my hands slowly reached for his shoulders, hugging him briefly. “I have decided to be yours after all.” My reaction worked because he didn’t end up reading it and told me to leave him alone for the day since he was just coming from a journey and he needed to rest. *** The first mission was cleared so I didn’t waste time moving to the next. The following morning, I woke up very early and rushed to the kitchen. “What are you doing?” Niamh asked, raising an eyebrow as I began rummaging through the cupboards “I want to cook for the alpha today,” my nonchalant declaration got Niamh checking if I was in my right senses or not. I had to flex my right as his mate and the Luna to be before she could step aside for me to create the mess I insisted on making. Her eyes followed my every move but I ignored her and focused on preparing the alpha’s favorite dishes. Once they were ready, I carefully plated it and headed to the alpha’s chamber. He was sitting at his desk, his eyes fixed on some scrolls when I came in. “Good Morning,” my voice automatically switched to a cheerful sound as I approached him He looked up with a slight surprise in his eyes; the maids were wheeling the food in a wooden cart while following my lead. “What’s this?” his voice was laced with suspicion as his eyes darted from me to Niamh and back to me. “I cooked your favorite breakfast dish,” my innocent voice coming to my rescue. “This is to apologize for all my rude behavior. I know I have been… a little bit… difficult.” His eyebrows rose in confusion as his eyes searched deeply into mine. “You think a plate of food is going to make up for everything?” He clearly wasn’t buying it. What a difficult fellow! His skepticism was so obvious. I took a deep breath, trying to sound sincere. “it’s a start, I know. I want you to know that I’m committed to making things right between us.” His gaze lingered on me for a while with a blank expression. Quickly, I motioned to them to set the table and watched him pick up his fork to take a tentative bite of the food. All these he did without taking his gaze off me, even as he chewed. I could read suspicion in every one of his moves, he kept wondering what I was up to. “Enjoy your meal.” I smiled, trying to appear harmless. He was biting deeper into my tantrums without much complaint. It’s a matter of time before he believes me completely.
