The audacity of the smelly rogues to touch her? How dare they? My anger knew no bounds. I woke up that morning feeling so trashy that I had to calm my rage with a book for a while. I couldn’t even sleep all night; I was pacing the room to calm myself down while she snored the night away.
At least she was fine. That was all I needed; if not everyone would have been in trouble. I didn’t know where to start the punishment from. The soldiers who failed to sense strangers? Aria that didn’t stay in her room when it was so late? Or me not realizing she was in danger faster?
I had purposely locked off the mate bond so she wouldn’t suffer. If I had kept it open and she kept rejecting me, it would have caused great pain on her side. I didn’t want to pull her closer to me with the pain; I wanted her to come to me herself.
A visit to the prison where the rogue was being held after interrogation revealed something fascinating.
“He keeps asking to see you. I don’t understand what he wants.” The head guard explained and I told him to give us some privacy.
“So, let’s have it?”
Using his left arm, he crawled to the edge of the door. His eyes had been covered with a cloth patch to keep them hidden from people. I watched him struggle to rise to his feet without pity.
“That woman is dangerous. She’s not someone you should keep beside you. She has a strange cover around her.” He blabbered
The look on my face was enough to tell him I wanted a deeper explanation.
“As I wanted to attack her from the back, I couldn’t use my power as I wished. It felt like there was a force holding me back. Also, her scent was closed off. We only got to see her by chance. Her body didn’t have any distinct smell, which was strange because there’s no one without a scent.”
His explanation was vague but I could understand what he meant. A mere werewolf cannot hide their scent on their own. If she’s able to do that, then something fishy is going on. It was also not the first time I would hear that concerning her.
Some of the rogues I had attacked in the human world that day also told me that it was impossible to find her with a scent because she hid it. Also, the magical ones couldn’t use their magic on her. It just wouldn’t work in her area.
“Who is she?” I couldn’t help but wonder as I walked out of the prison.
Something about it was worth looking into. How was she able to hide her scent as both a rogue and an omega? I needed to think and get my fact straight so I instructed Niamh to inform her of my absence at the dinner.

I walked back to my room in anger. How dare he stand me up? Was he trying to be childish right now? Or he hasn’t gotten over his anger? He clearly told me to make myself available at dinner!
“Are you being angry right now? I thought you don’t like dinners with him,” Lyra teased out of the blues
That damn wolf! She only appears when she wants to frustrate me.
“I can’t remember granting you the permission to have an opinion.” my voice fired back harshly but she only released a light chuckle
“Says the person that tried everything to hear me talk.” with that, she disappeared and I screamed in frustration.
“Just you wait; I will make sure to pay you back." I fumed, turning towards the garden in order to blow off my stress
My legs halted suddenly as I came across the Alpha’s mother at the entrance of the garden. She was trimming some flowers with her warrior guard standing solidly behind her. It was too late to run back because I had walked deeper with blinded anger before I saw her.
“Is staring the way to pay your respect?” the warrior guard, whom I never cared to ask for her name lashed at me and I slowly bowed my head.
She didn’t even spare me a glance and continued with the flower she was handling. After a while, I raised my head and proceeded to the spot I had in mind but her guard rushed to block me.
“Your insolence is alarming; she has not given you the permission to leave.”
Her actions were fueling the anger that was boiling in me but I tried to keep my cool and stepped back. She finally looked up to me and said, “You are still lacking in manners and etiquette. Is it because you are an omega or a rogue? A combination of the two is already a bad omen. I wonder what he saw in you.”
Her words drove through my heart like a new sword. She was so bent on humiliating me that even her maids snorted.
“I..”
Niamh came to my rescue out of nowhere. “We have started the basic training. Please pardon her rudeness and blame it on my incompetence.”
The alpha’s mother only stared at me for some seconds and walked out of the garden. Her stare was cold and full of bitterness. It was obvious that she doesn’t approve of me and will give me the toughest time.
I wasn’t interested in all the dramas I was experiencing; I just wanted to be in my tiny bookstore and enjoy my life. I stormed back to my room, my mood trashier than before. The two times I had encountered her, she was always talking down on me as if she had some hidden hatred towards me.

The next morning, I woke up to the Alpha in my room. He was waiting for me to wake up while sitting at the table at the end of the room. My heart flew in my mouth as I turned to see him.
“How long have you been sitting there?” I blurted out
“For as long as you snored. Now, you even wake up with dry spit on your cheeks?”
My legs flew down the bed and I rushed to the mirror to check what he meant. The embarrassing white line on my cheek was sitting there boldly.
“s**t!” I growled subtly and rubbed it off aggressively.
I was still so carried away that I didn’t know when he got to my back. His yellow eyes pierced into my face without carrying any expression.
“Do you still want to reject me?” he asked, moving closer
My arm gripped the mirror table as I stood my ground. “I never for once wavered. Don’t think I will change my mind.”
He only nodded slightly. “I see you will not give in easily. From now on, I will break you gradually until you beg for me. I will make you grovel and accept me!” his voice was harsh but he didn’t care.
He only wanted to pass his message and didn’t mind how I received or perceived it.
“Do your worst." I spat back, my anger rising once again
“You will experience my worst,” he assured me and left for the door
Immediately the door closed as he left, and a sense of foreboding settled in the pit of my stomach. His eyes held so much determination of making me break. Immediately, the mate bond began to stir.
Come to think about it, I haven’t felt it since that night he came to rescue me. At first, it was a gentle tug and a soft whisper in my mind. But as I continued with my day, the sensation grew, swelling into a crushing pressure that threatened to wash over me.
My heart raced as I came out of the bathroom, making me stumble backward. Quickly, my hand sought for support and grasped the bathroom’s door to anchor myself.
It was nothing like I had ever experienced. It felt like my soul was being torn apart and shredded. My mind reeled and choked my breath. I couldn’t think or escape the agony that was slowly consuming me.
My vision blurred slowly, with only the Alpha’s last stare visible in my face. I tried calling out for mercy but my voice was trapped. The pain was too much and overwhelming. I was being pulled and dragged towards the alpha; he was the only one that could ease my suffering but I resisted.
My mind was screaming with defiance, even at the point of my body breaking. I stumbled and fell, crawling across the room as my fingers scrabbled for something to hold onto as I tried to escape my agony.
The mate bond had me in its grasp; there was no escape route and it wouldn’t let me go. I was caught in a living nightmare of pain and longing with no respite in sight.
I once read in a book that physical exhaustion could help with the pain so I decided to go for training. That morning, I attacked wildly to the surprise of everyone. I kept going at it furiously so much that I was out of breath in no time.
The fierce training helped with managing the pain, it was not as painful as it first started. I made sure it had no strength to feast on anymore.
“Did something happen? You are pushing too hard,” Beta Orion asked with concern as he blocked my attack.
My eyes caught the Alpha on the balcony of the training center. I didn’t even know he was there until I saw him watching me with his hands at his back.
“Nothing! I just have to show someone that I do not wish to satisfy their desires,” I struggled to respond with my ragged breath
I thought in my mind as I looked at him, “Just watch, I will never break like you want.” a smirk crawled to my lips as I pushed the beta away with all the strength in me.
“Let’s see how much you can take, little rogue,” his voice sounded in my thoughts
I couldn’t believe it at first until I looked up to see an evil grin lurking around his mouth.
He had opened my mind link! Just how far was he planning to go?
