I already knew that she would take advantage of the charity ceremony to flee the pack. She had been looking for several ways to escape and be snooping around for a while. My wolf, Lupus, had been communicating with her wolf mentally without her knowledge. Lupus was that powerful that boundaries don’t work on him.
It was her wolf that pleaded with Lupus to protect her at all costs because she would be in greater danger if she left the pack. I was so surprised when Lupus told me but I appreciated the fact that her wolf trusted me enough to hint me on these things.
“We need to keep her in check. She will not follow the main border, of course so our men have to be at the borders in the forest,” I had informed Orion and he promised to put everything in place.
Her wolf was the first to snitch on her as she took off from the square. When she shifted, the wolf had left her scent everywhere on the trail so it was very easy for me to pick it up and lead the search.
As I laid her at the shore after rescuing her in water, I kept staring at her cold face. Her lips were tightly pinned together in the determination to die.
“What a stubborn little rogue,” I muttered in exhaustion
I had raced after her so other lurking rogues wouldn’t catch her scent and capture her. It would be a hassle to start negotiating with those cunny beings who have been looking for leverage on me for years.
“Take her back home. I have to be somewhere.”
I was already planning to attend a meeting at the neighboring pack with Orion after the event but since this had happened and I was running late, I had to just go from the shore. Her maids had followed us in the search so they knew what to do with her after she coughed out all the water she had gulped and was in good condition.
“I will still punish your incompetence, just so you know,” I commented and left for my business.

The meeting took longer than expected and we couldn’t even finish that very day so we had to stay for the night and continue the next day.
I couldn’t get my mind off Aria. Has she woke up? Will she be fine? Is anywhere affected by the water? I wanted to see her for myself badly.
Orion walked into the room I was staying and brought a letter through one of the soldiers. “She has woken up. She’s being tended to and will be fine very soon.
A huge sigh of relief left my chest with the news. My thoughts had been scattered and everywhere that I couldn’t even concentrate well at the meeting. The audacity of a little rogue to mess with my thinking and activity.
“That little rogue!” my fist folded in anger as I released a low growl
“Maybe a little punishment can make her understand that you are not to be toiled with.” Orion suggested
That was what I needed to go feral. My hand pinned him to the wall in a flash. I had been looking for a way to vent and he went right into the trap.
"Listen, Orion, I make the decisions. I will never forgive whoever touches a strand of hair on her head. She’s mine alone to deal with.”
My voice was thick with anger. No one dares touch her except me and she’s the only one permitted to hate me. I would rip off the heads of anybody who expresses their hate for me because they are my enemies that I do not need around me.
“Hey man! I was just suggesting,” Orion groaned against the wall
“Don’t! I will handle her my way.”
That was enough for him to get my message so I dropped my hand from his throat. My breath was ragged and fast from anger. The thought of her being in pain didn’t sit right with me. If anyone would ever cause her pain, it would be me. And it will be a pain of pleasure.

The meeting was finally wrapped up the evening of the second day but it was so late that we had to stay till the following morning. The chariot provided was too slow for my liking so I opted for the horse and raced back to the pack.
“Look who is here! My son, how have you been?”
My mother was the least person I was expecting to see. She had been away from the pack for about two months. She didn’t notify me of her coming or arrival so it was surprising seeing her in the mansion.
The men pulled the horse away immediately I came down and she rushed to give me a slight hug before bowing a little, “My Alpha, your subject is back in good health.”
Her health was worsening when she came down with a cold, so she requested to visit her pack for further healing. She was missing her pack, according to her and believed she would recuperate better with the energy of her birth pack.
“Alpha Sherlock sent his greeting,” she informed us as we walked inside the building.
“It would have been better if he kept them in his pockets,” I marched into the house, removing the uncomfortable gloves
Her hand met mine as she tried to keep up with my pace. “Common, don’t be like that. Are you going to stay enemies with the pack of your mother? That’s not good behavior.”
I inhaled sharply. “Expecting a good behavior from an evil person is being delusional.”
“Oh my goodness,” she finally gave up as I entered my room and shut the door to keep her from entering.
I had been at peace for the past two months; her presence is an indication that I wouldn’t have this space to myself anymore. She knows how much I love and obey her so she has always used that to her advantage.
“My guest?” I turned to Niamh, who was standing behind me with her hands folded.
She had followed me from the door but my mother didn’t allow her to welcome me like she would.
“She’s in the dungeon.”
My head rang at her answer. With a sharp swipe, my claws shot out and scratched the wallpaper of the wall close to me, making them shudder in fear.
“If in the next two minutes, she’s not brought to my chambers, the head of everyone involved will roll at my feet.”
She knew I would never joke with things like that so she didn’t hesitate to dash out of the room.
