Chapter 63

Finley seem to not mind at all and I am clueless of what am I feeling right now. Of all the area I could sit on, it is where I could see them very, very closely. What a treat. We finally arrived in Draco. “Hey, it’d be suspicious to walk together side by side, scatter yourselves and blend in with the crowd, alright? Just follow Scarlet and me. We know the way.” Finley said to the party. Everyone agreed and both of us headed separately towards the same path. We lead them towards the house of the Simmons. We arrived first, faster than expected and so we waited for others to catch up before we could all knock and enter. After just a minute of waiting, they caught up and we started knocking. The door was opened by Lynnet. “Finley, Scarlet! What a surprise! We didn’t know you were visiting and there’s more of you.” she greeted. “Hi, Lynnet. It’s really nice to see you again. Sorry for the unexpected visit. We actually formed a party. I’ll explain it to you but first let me introduce everybody.” I replied and introduced everyone to Lynnet afterwards. “Well, it’s nice to meet you all. You all seem like good people. Oh, please come in, make yourselves comfortable.” she said. We all sat down in their living room and I am trying to think of a way I can ask her about our purpose of visiting. Finley asked to talked to me on the side alone. “I think that we should ask them, just the two of us. There’s many of us and we might not get the information we need, especially that the three of them are new faces to them. At least, we already established some form of relationship with them. What do you think?” he suggested. “Yes, that is a good idea but let’s not take them by surprise in a sudden. Maybe we’ll wait for Dudley? Maybe bond with them first, especially the kids?” I replied to him. “Yes, let’s do that. I’ll tell the others.” he said and smiled at me right after. I can’t believe we managed to talk decently after what happened last morning. I went with Lynnet to their kitchen to give them the treat we bought from the market back in Tynewt. When visiting someone, especially to gain some information, it is best not to go empty-handed. I hope that the Simmons won’t take this the wrong way and think that we are meddling with their lives. They’re going to be a big help if they gave us vital information related to the undertakings in the kingdom. But, if they are hiding something unexpectedly bad, which I doubt it, we’re going to need to do the necessary measures need to be done here. But I believe that the Simmons are good people and they wouldn’t do anything that will harm others. While in the kitchen, we got to talking and we asked each other how life is treating us. As usual, Lynnet is a sweetheart and I can’t possibly think bad about this person. We headed in the living room where everyone is and tried to casually tell stories with each other. Everyone seem to get along and I can tell that the others like the company of Lynnet. Finley, on the other hand, is playing with the kids and as I watch him, he seems to be good around children. He might become a great father one day. Anyways, when I got another chance to talk to Lynnet alone, I asked her about Raha. It’s been long since I saw her and I hope she’s doing fine. “Don’t worry about her, princess. She always visits here, like almost everyday. She basically lives here. But today, I think she’s working or something, so she won’t make it.” she explained to me. Maybe, I can visit her after this. Few hours has passed and Dudley finally arrived. We’d have to ask them soon. After Dudley has settled and rested for awhile, we told the Simmons about our party and our mission. They both seem on edge as we talk to them about this. After some time, Finley and I decided that it’s about time, and so we pulled Dudley and Lynnet aside to privately talk matters with them. “We would just like to ask, if the dark mages ever came back to disturb your family again?” Finley started asking. “We’re actually glad that they never did. After your first visit, we felt more at peace knowing that good still recedes evil.” Dudley replied. “That is such a relief to hear. We just have questions to ask if you’d let us. That is actually our main purpose in coming here. As we have told you about our mission, we could really use some of your help.” I told them. “Uhm, sure, go ahead. We’d answer it with utmost honesty.” Dudley replied. “Do you happen to know something about why the dark mages came here to your house, finding for something that seem so important? Maybe you have an idea of what they could possibly be looking for.” I asked. “Princess, I already told you before that we don’t know what they were looking for. We’re very sorry.” Lynnet answered. Then, Dudley held her shoulder and said to her, “It’s alright, Lynnet. I think we can trust them. Maybe it’s time.” Lynnet whispered if he was sure and he told her he was and they both nodded. “Time for what?” we asked. “We can’t keep it a secret forever. We have to tell someone we trust eventually.” Dudley stated. Then, with evident hesitation, Lynnet revealed something to her husband, “Yes, uhm..the truth is…. I also kept a secret from you, Dudley, but there was this one time that two of the dark mages came barging in here when I was alone, when mother and the kids slept over at Raha’s. You were still out working that day and they came raiding the house again. They seem to be in a rush, so it didn’t took as long as it did before and I am so glad that they didn’t do anything to me. I wanted to tell you but you came home sick and I didn’t want to worry and upset you. Since then, I didn’t know how I would say it to you. I’m sorry, but I also thought that there was not much harm done so it’d be fine if I didn’t tell.”
