“About me? What about me, then?”
“We want to ask you something but we need you to be very honest to us, alright?” Scarlet said to her.
“Sure, I took an oath for this party, ‘course I would be honest, as I always am.” she said with confidence.
“What did you do last night?” Finley asked her.
“Not much, really. Why?”
“Are you sure, there’s nothing you did last night that concerns all of us?” Amos provokingly asked.
“None that I can recall of. Is there a problem? Just tell me directly.”
“You seem sure of your answer. Can you explain to us something then? Let me show you something from last night.” Amos said to her. He showed her the scene from last night.
“Care to explain this to us?” Amos added.
“Oh that? Are all of you thinking that I’m selling you out? That I am a traitor right now?” I thought that you all trusted me?“ she said to them, thinking how bad they thought of her.
“We thought so, too, Kasstin. But now I don’t know what to think anymore.” Scarlet replied to her.
“It’s not whatever all of you think it is, really. That soldier is an old friend of mine. He’s been my friend long before he became a Creagan soldier. I also been meaning to tell you this and I was just preparing for the right time but I need to say it now. I have been working on my father’s case from outside of this party. We are all focused on our mission but I needed to continue my own mission, as well. But I wouldn’t do anything behind your backs! I always stay true to my words.”
“How can we be sure that you’re telling the truth right now?” Amos asked.
“I am telling truth! Please just trust me. Scarlet? Finley?” she said. They looked at her with doubt now.
“Even though, he’s your friend then why would you negotiate something to him, knowing he’s part of the enemies?” Amos confronted her.
“Because he was already helping me with my case long before I was asked to join this party. And he works for them because he has no choice. Some of the Creagan people are manipulated into working for them, forced into it making it seem like they have no choice because they are being threatened. I know him and he is not an enemy. But for the sake of this party, I haven’t mentioned anything about us to him. I trust him but he is still a soldier of the enemy and they are tortured if they don’t obey orders from the king or the prince.” Kasstin explained to everyone clearly.
“She seems to be telling the truth. For the short time that we got to know her, I am sure she won’t break our trust.” Finley said.
“For all we know, she might have seen this one coming so she already formulated a perfect alibi for herself. She did came from Swindmore and I know that people there are deceivers and manipulators, just as the people in Draco are like.” Amos rebutted.
“What is your say in this, Scarlet?” Finley asked her.
“I…I don’t know exactly what I am feeling. Please give me a moment to think this one through. Excuse me.” she said with evident distress and withdrew herself from the rest. She looked for a quiet spot where she can think.
“Finley, you said it yourself that you don’t know her for that long, so how can you be so sure that you can still trust her?” Amos asked Finley.
“I think I’m being framed for all of this! Who even was watching me very late at night and even eyeballing me and my private concerns??” Kasstin said in a frustrated voice. “This couldn’t possibly be done by Varan. The two were far away from us that night and you, Amos is the only man who could have possibly done this! Are you setting me up? Did I do something to you? Have I wronged you in any way?? Please! Just tell me! Tell me everything! Don’t you stoop this low.”she continued.
“Are you all hearing this?? She’s actually putting the blame on me? We have a very a concrete and solid evidence right here and you’re really turning the table around??” Amos defended. Scarlet went out as she hears them argue. She thinks that Amos has a point but she knows Kasstin more than Amos know her. She knew trusting her was a risk but she took it because she saw something great in her and she felt and saw through her heart. She knew that she was feisty and vindictive but she has a genuine heart that’s ready to help others as well. Her alibi seem sensible to the princess but the evidence speaks strongly as well that something is off. Kasstin is even restless this morning which feels like she is guilty for something.
Varan made a stand and said that he believes Kasstin. He has talked to her many times now about things that matter and Kasstin has opened to him her own mission for his father. He knew that she is telling the truth.
“If only you were able to hear our conversation, you would know that I am telling the truth right now.” Kasstin told Amos.
“What if I told everyone that I did hear your conversation.” Amos said.
“Then, what is this fuss all about then?” Kasstin replied in a frustrated manner.
“How can I be fine when I heard straight from you that you are snitching to them what we have been up to and our mission targeted towards them? I even saw you get money from the guy afterwards! What is up with that? Luckily for you I wasn’t able to get that moment in the eyeball as it shut down.” Amos revealed.
“What are you talking about?? You’re obviously making up a story now?? All of that is far from what we have talked about. You’re the one lying right now, I swear to all gods out there!” she furiously defended.
“Oh alright then. If you are right and I am wrong, show us what is in your satchel right now.” Amos confronted.
