“It’s white magic. The elves are known to possess the ability to enchant white magic. White magic is like the good side of magic so healing powers is part of it. All of this must have something to do with dark mages! This must be their prophecy or something that’s why it is written in a paper or a book. We must find all the parts of the pages that survived and bring it with us somewhere safer than here.” Scarlet said as she was starting to put the puzzle together.
The party gathered all the papers that survived and are scattered on the ground. They got every little bit of it in case it might all come together somehow.
As they collected all the pieces, the whole party starts to leave and go back to Tynewt. It was all fine until Kasstin sensed a sound of spear headed their way.
“Get down!!” she shouted very loudly and everyone got down on their knees while covering their heads. Kasstin’s instincts were right as a long spear flew over to them. They all started to pull out their own weapons and they all made a stance. Kasstin started to lock target with her senses and soon enough, as she fired away an arrow, they heard a man cried out in pain. She shoots arrow to arrow until the man stopped groaning. She drew closer and found where the man was. She looked further to see if anyone else was there. Few men showed up and with her fast movement, they didn’t even get a chance to make a move on her. They all fell down like barbecues on skewers. The rest of the party was amazed with her skills and moved towards her. They saw that the men were wearing some type of attire like that of an assassin. They were also wearing masks, and Scarlet decided to take a peek to see who were behind the masks. They were hard to recognize but then Scarlet noticed one of the men lying on the ground has an under tunic like that of the royal guards but there was a badge embroidered in it; a badge like that of the Creagan soldiers’ badge on their uniforms.
“They are forces of the Creagan empire.” She declared while showing their badge to everyone.
“That Darius and Demetrius duo isn’t done messing around. They have bigger, worst plans. I think that they’ll kill more people soon so that they would have the entire kingdom to themselves. They are starting with those in power. They might only spare those who are willing to obey and be on their side for lifetime. The question is, what kind of dark magic are they linked to and who their allies are in the dark magic realm.” Scarlet uttered worriedly and with a hint of resentment.
“That makes sense of everything but we should find out their real plan behind all this so we could move accordingly. It is up to us since we have a lead on the matter. Now, are you all willing to continue with this?” Varan asked.
The three nodded at the same time then Scarlet spoke, “I’m more than willing to take the risk, sire. The kingdom is very important to me that I’d always be willing to do anything that concerns it and its people. This has all been literally my life growing up and I don’t want it turning into ruins, where evil will reign forever.” Scarlet genuinely and passionately expressed to everyone.
“You speak like a true Avery.” Varan implied. Scarlet tenses up a bit, worrying that Varan has found out or somebody told him already that she is the escaped princess. Finley changes the conversation and told everyone that they should keep going.
They all headed back to Varan’s weapon store in Tynewt. They rested for few minutes and started to talk about what they found out.
“Alright, put all the pieces of papers you found right here on this table.” Varan instructed.
They tried to put together the pieces but they all seem to have come from different pages of some book. There were words like ‘the’, ‘all’, ‘they’, and words that if you connected wouldn’t even make up a phrase. Then, Finley found a paper stuck inside his pockets and when he pulled it out, it was a half torn page again.
The moon shall reveal its full face
In the murkiness of the witching hour
And there we shall
The written words look like a middle part of a passage. The first and last part might have been one of the ashes already.
“It is referring to the full moon.” Finley implied.
“The next full moon is like an epoch from now. We’ve still got time if that’s when they’ll do something destructive for maybe like the whole world.” Varan stated.
“It’s just too bad we didn’t get the whole passage. Now, we don’t know what they shall or shall not do during the full moon phase up in the sky.” Kasstin remarked.
“That’s what we ought to find out now. It is still good that we have a lead that could help us save the kingdom. Maybe we should consider the day before the full moon as the deadline for this entire quest.” Scarlet stated.
“I agree that we should collect as many clues as possible and find out sooner what we are going to be facing during the full moon. You all better start training as well for this. The enemy is a huge, powerful one right here, so it will never be an easy job. You kids might even discover something about your parents while in this quest. It is possible that everything is interconnected and the same people might be behind your parents’ death.” Varan uttered to all of them.
“What should we do now?” Kasstin asked.
“I have a suggestion. Why don’t we go to a library? All these clues seem to have come from books so there might be similar ones somewhere?” Finley proposed to entire group.
