Chapter 15

After a while, we realized that we've been staring for too long now and so we both looked away at the same time. We were quite lost in the moment back there. It suddenly dawned on me that some people literally just invaded the house and now I have this urge to ask who they were and what were they up to. They didn't seem to be ordinary burglars. They were like a troop of soldiers, at least from what I heard. So, I got serious for a second. "So Scarlet, uhm, can I ask about those prowlers? Who were they and were they looking for you??" I asked earnestly. Her face turned ice cold immediately. "Actually, they were Creagan soldiers. They're like the enemies of the whole kingdom. Their king heartlessly invaded this kingdom and now everyone's suffering because of him." She bitterly said. Resentment seem to be visible in her face and the tone of her voice. "Then who were they looking for??" "They do this almost every week. They'd raid houses to find..." she looked at me sharply, as if discerning if she should trust me or not. "...to find the princess who has escaped from their cruel hands. Well, I made this tiny cellar so that we'd be safer from all the raids they do because they can be brutal sometimes, even to ordinary dwellers like us." She seem to be telling the truth but why do I feel like she's hiding something. Or maybe, she's just really sorry for the princess that's why she seem to be on edge while explaining everything. "That sucks, for real. I can't imagine how scared you might be everyday, knowing they'd come back anytime they want."I genuinely said. "We're used to it, I guess. How about you? You haven't had a clue of what the kingdom's condition now, so you must really are not from around here. Where are you from?" she asked with a sharp look on her eyes. "The truth is I'm from C----" I was interrupted when one of Snow White's seven dwarfs came barging in on the door. "Oh Scarlet! Are you alright, my dear?! I heard that the Creagan fools just barged in here and I got really worried and----" the man stopped when he noticed me. "Oh no princess, is this man bothering you?? Oh you come here, boy!! You're in big trouble!" he exclaimed and suddenly, he was chasing me with his little feet and he even went to pick up a big, long stick on a corner to smack me with it. "Wait, did you say princess?" I stopped to ask and he just continued chasing me around after. He was really gonna smack me with that thick, old stick! We run around the whole tiny house and Scarlet's just standing in the corner chuckling to herself until the man was really about to hit me with the stick and that's when she stopped him and I tried to hide behind Scarlet. I got real scared for a second, no joke! "It's okay, Tucky. He's a new friend." She assured the man with a wide smile on her face. "And yet you laughed first before saving me." I muttered. "Shut up, that's what real friends do." Scarlet replied, rolling her eyes. "Oh so, we're best friends now?" I asked, largely grinning to myself. "Friends?? Oh so we're did you found your "new" friend??" he bitterly said, crossing his arms, sulking. "Ohh, are you jealous of him?" Scarlet teasingly replied to him. "Jealous?? Of course not! Why would I be jealous?" he then replied. He's quite adorable, to be honest. "Well, Tucky, this is Finley. He's an adventurer and I found him in Draco." "I was gone for few days and now you're replacing me." Tucky murmured to himself. "Oh, so you are jealous! Tucky...I would never replace my best friend." Scarlet assures him. "Wait a second, have I been unconscious for few days?? How long has it been?!" I abruptly asked upon the snap of realization. "It's only been three days, actually." Scarlet replied. "Only been three days?? I could have accomplished many things by now! I was supposed to deliver this potion to someone in Draco and I could have been in my way back already by now." "Yeah, I've heard, during my visit there. That's actually when I saw you. I knew you were the one they were talking about the moment those massive bandits approached you. And I knew that you were in trouble and turns out, I was right. You were in such trouble that I needed to save you. You were no match to them, they were not just bandits but they're these very strong elementalists that could easily destroy you considering you were no match to their magical capabilities." She explained. "Scarlet! Why did you involve yourself with all the commotion that happened in Draco? For all I know that's what led them to discover our dwelling." Tucky stated with concern then he gave me a quick, sharp, and cold stare. He's like Grumpy from Snow White. "The truth is, I had to. I was on my way back here but then they were ahead of me and they were blocking the way and if I dare cross the path with all the rumpus going on with all of them, I'll get more attention. I'd be involved either way. I could have just stayed away and hide somewhere but he was about to face his own death and I cannot bear to just stand there and watch! I mean he looks very nice and innocent and from how I saw it, he must still be a novice adventurer." She explained. "But I've got to tell you, Finley, you have a lot of potential in you. It's just that those bandits were on a really extreme level. They were like masters of elemental magic and I don't think I can even beat them myself." "Well, thank you, Scarlet. I never got a chance to thank you as well for saving me back there. I owe you my life and thank you for all this." I genuinely said to her.
