Chapter 31

1017 Words
After a while, everything went quiet. So I decided to peek from where we were hiding and there I saw my husband and two other men, which I think was his friends standing alone out there, without the fierce looking large men fighting them. They all looked exhausted and weak. Then, my husband came rushing towards our hiding place and finally lets us out. "Are you alright, my dear?? How's the kids?? How's mother??" my husband worriedly asked, trying to hug us all. We all looked scared and traumatized with what happened. The children are crying, I am still shaking and my mother is just staring numbly into space. "Who on earth were those people, Dudley?! What were they looking for?? Tell me!" I asked him frustratedly with tears falling down on my cheeks. "I...I don't know, Lynnet. I just heard that someone raided our house and I immediately went rushing in here and I called my friends for back up, they even brought Douglass with them so he could go to you but..." Dudleyexplained in a gloomy tone. "But what, Dudley?? What??" He pointed behind his friends and the friends went aside, revealing a stoned dog. My shattered heart breaks even more. It's now as grainy as a sand. ~~~~~~END OF FLASHBACK~~~~~ "You see, Douglass was not just our dog. He was part of our small family. He gives joy to the kids, he tends to my mother, he helps me and my husband and he's just there to cheer us up. Losing him means so much not only to me, but to all of us." "I'm so sorry for your loss." Finley answered to her. "You said that Douglass was stoned, right?" I asked her, I might just have a think I could help them with after all. "Sadly yes, we don't know what we can do about it. People are saying that he's already dead and we just kept it here, hoping that there'll be a miracle that could happen to bring him back." Lynnet explained. "I think I can help you with that, Lynnet. I know a way I could help you bring him back. Don't worry, he's not dead yet. You did the right thing of not giving up on him yet." I excitedly told her. "Are you serious?? How...how would you do it?? I mean, it's almost impossible for us ordinary people." She implied. "I believe that nothing is impossible if you believe in something. Now, are you willing to hand over your dog so I could do it now? Are you willing to give me your trust?" I asked her cordially. "You know what, you seem like a nice person. For once, I feel in my heart that we are not being deceived by someone. So, I would give you my trust. Just please be careful." "Thank you, Lynnet. I promise I won't disappoint you. Just wait here, can I use your toilet for some privacy? I won't leave I promise." I told her sincerely and continued, "Finley, I'll be right back, just stay here and maybe talk to them for a while, or play with the kids. Just wait." Finley looked at me with his gleaming eyes. I can tell that he's looking forward to what I am about to do. I then entered the secluded tiny room with their toilet in it. The toilet was a wooden bowl with a hole in it. The waste goes in some type of a box of some sort. Lynnet followed after me and tried to sneak in Douglass in the room with me. She then left and closed the door behind her. Now, I am to work my magic right now. I will use a counter spell to undo the spell that they did. It won't definitely be easy but I have practiced the art of transfiguration and untransfiguration hard enough that I believe I can do it. This spell requires hard work and a strong magical capability. Now, it's time to prove whether my trainings will pay off or if there's still a lot to done. Using my right hand, I closed my eyes, summoning the power that's in me, I focus hard and let myself be one with my power. Then, with nothing but the sounds of the magic racing through my veins, I chant the incantation and light started piercing right through my hands that are placed on the stoned dog. I let the power seep through the stone and when I heard a bark, I smiled to myself. I opened my eyes and there I saw the dog calling out to its owner as if still trying to protect them. I tried to calm it down and call Lynnet over so she could surprise her children. We talked inside with the door still closed. After thanking me, she hid the dog behind the door with me, and opened the door. The kids are excitedly facing the door as if wanting badly to peek inside after hearing a familiar call from a dear friend. "Kids, we have a pleasant visit from an old, dear friend." Lynnet told the children. Then I wasn't able to keep the dog on my hands. It ran faster than a lightning as soon as it heard the children's voices. It kept licking the children's faces as well as Lynnet's. It must have been so worried for its family's wellbeing. I can see how happy and relieved it is upon seeing the faces of his owner. Now, it's wagging its tail cheerfully and is now just a happy dog. Lynnet then approached me and said, "Thank you, milady. This is the best help we have received for a while and you are just a pure heart. I won't even ask how you did it. I'm just so grateful for this moment, especially what you've done to my kids and my mother. It's the first time I see her smile again. Just look at her right there. My husband will rejoice as soon as he gets home. If only we could repay you right now."
