Chapter 73

I knew I needed you. I knew we needed you. And I am sure that you couldn’t do what they were saying about you, especially considering that it came from that Amos guy. I had a bad feeling about him as days went by with him included in the party. I just didn’t say something because all of you seem to trust him and you see these good things about him. I really feel like something bad happened so I wanted to seek for help.” he revealed. “Kasstin, I agree with him, I really believed you when you told us what you really did that night talking to that soldier. But, there were lots of evidence right there and then that I don’t know how I can even defend you.” Varan added. “I really did say the truth and the only truth! I wouldn’t betray the party and I always keep my word. I just didn’t know how to defend myself as well. But now’s not the time for that. They need our help and we should go to Draco and see what has happened. I am worried for them.” Kasstin said with genuine worry. “I agree and we cannot go unarmed. Here, I’ll lend you my weapons. You have to take care of these and use it well.” Varan said as he went and lend them some of the weapons that he is selling. “You think you can endure it, Tucky? You might get hurt even more along the way. You can rest if it still hurts.” Kasstin said to Tucky. “No! This is nothing, alright? I cannot sit still knowing that they could be in danger. I want to come with you and I want to do it now! I’m always left at the dwelling when the party goes somewhere but this time I will not be left there just so I could be safe. I want to go out there and make sure that the people I love is safe. No one can make me stay. I am strong enough to protect myself and I will be strong enough to protect others.” Tucky courageously proclaimed. “Alright then, should we ride my dear dragon?” Kasstin asked them and they both nodded in agreement. After a quick preparation, they went and ride Zyphon, so they could go faster at their destination. Plus, Tucky has had enough of walking kilometers now. Few hours has passed and they finally arrived at Draco, particularly in front of the Simmons’ house. They immediately went inside and discovered Lynnet, her children and her mother tied up to wooden posts of the house. They all looked traumatized and scared. “Oh, what happened here?? Where is Dudley? Where are Scarlet and Finley??” Kasstin asked them. “Oh, I’m glad that you came! Please help us! Let us go from these chains! They got the forbidden book! And they have captured the princess, my husband and the rest of them! Please, help us!” Lynnet cried out in despair and desperation. “Please, calm down.” Kasstin told her and hugged her in an attempt to calm her down. Lynnet broke down in more tears. “We’ll free all of you right now. You don’t deserve all of this. You didn’t even do anything wrong! I am so sorry, Lynnet!” Kasstin comforted Lynnet and even the children and the mother. “They got them, please help them. I beg all of you to help them, please.” Lynnet begged as she continues to burst in tears. “Yes, we will help them as soon as possible. That is why we went here after them. We didn’t knew that this is how it all ended but please take care. We’ll leave you somewhere safer than here. We’ll go after them and rescue them. They are probably taken captive inside the Avery castle where the prince is.” Varan said. “Yes, we can take them in our dwelling. They’ll be safer there.” Tucky suggested. “Alright, but we’ve got to keep moving. We’ve got no time to lose.” Kasstin uttered. “Have you ever ridden a dragon?” Kasstin asked in an attempt to intrigue especially the scared children. She saw their eyes brighten and a small smile was painted on their cheeks. In that small way, they might brighten up the children’s mood. They helped the Simmons family to pack up essential things and they hurriedly went their way. They took them to the secret dwelling in the forest through Kasstin’s dragon Zyphon. The kids seem to like the experience which somewhow momentarily took their minds off what happened to them. Upon arriving in the dwelling, Tucky quickly toured them around the small dwelling. He also showed them the secret wooden trapdoor where they can hide in case danger is present or near them. After feeling like they can already leave them be, Kasstin, Varan and Tucky bid the family farewell. They left a working eyeball once again so they can at least keep watch at the Simmons. They rode Zyphon once again and they headed towards the Avery castle in a mission to rescue the captives. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Scarlet’s POV We were then placed at a different dungeon. This time, we were put in individual cells and the dungeon is darker, smaller, dirtier and even creepier. We weren’t chained anymore but each cell looks very sturdy and it feels impossible to escape. We were locked in feeling helpless for hours. As much as I want to plan our escape right now, there’s just all these overwhelming emotions broiling up inside of me, and I am sure, it is not only me who’s feeling this way right now. Awhile back when we were escorted out of our previous dungeon, I knew what Finley was thinking. I knew that he felt like it was a perfect time for us to escape. But, it was dangerous as this castle is now much more equipped with soldiers and even dark mages, just running away isn’t the best idea. It could put us all in danger. We need to cleverly plan our escape. I didn’t want Finley or Raha to get hurt that time so I gestured him to stop what he was thinking and he understood what I was trying to say by just looking at me.
