“Well, I think that we should go there, Finley. So you would stop worrying and your master will be reassured that you’re still alive. We’ll also fetch some elements that are only found in Tynewt for my enchantment so we could also continue with your magic training. Then, we’ll start planning afterwards for the bigger picture of our mission.” Scarlet considered.
“Alright then, the trip on foot will take about five days or so to get there. We’ll need to prepare for camping and stuff.” I informed them.
“We could take my pal Zyphon with us.” Kasstin suggested.
“And who is this Zyphon? Why would he come with us?” I asked her.
“He’ll make our journey lesser than five days. We could arrive there in like few hours if you’d prefer that. It would save us time and it will be more convenient.” She said.
“How will he be able to do that? And can we even trust him?” Scarlet asked.
“Oh, more than you could trust me just wait and I’ll bring him tomorrow. Don’t sweat about it.” Kasstin guarantees.
“Uhm alright, if you really seem so sure about it.” Scarlet doubtly replied.
****************************************
The next day, we woke up to an unfamiliar noise outside the dwelling. It sounds like a giant bat or something that is flapping its wings strongly that the wind sways hard along with it like it would during a storm.
The sound mellowed down a little while later and a knock followed right after.
“Wake up my fellow boneheads; I have brought my fellow Zyphon as promised.” Kasstin greeted as soon as the door opened. It was so early that even Tucky has been awoken from the remaining hour of his sleep schedule every day.
“What is wrong with you?? It’s so, so, so, early in the morning and you couldn’t wait until later for this?? You said your pal could speed up our journey so how could you not spare us the hours that are meant for sleeping?!” I irritatedly said to her. I am a night owl and insufficient amount of sleep or an interrupted slumber could literally crank me up easily.
“Where is your pal anyway?” Scarlet asked in her newly awoken voice.
“Behold…” Kasstin grandiosely introduced, gesturing her hands toward her pal who was behind her.
Her pal drew nearer to our view and it woke our senses as soon as we saw the Zyphon she was talking about.
There stood a feline like creature that also looks like a combination of an avian and a reptile of some sort. It has wings like that of a real bat and it has a horn on its forehead. It has a scaly, snake-like skin and eyes like that of a cat. It has big set of sharp teeth and long claws. It was a large creature that looks so powerful.
I can’t believe that an actual, real life dragon is standing before me looking so fierce in its ash gray coat! It’s wild to think that this could actually be real and I’m not dreaming! This is so cool! And we get to ride it later on!
“You haven’t seen the best part yet…” Kasstin stated. She approached Zyphon and whispered him something.
“Just keep an eye on him, alright? Wait here.” She continued. She then rode on Zyphon’s back and in a minute, they started flying up in the sky. We just watched them and moments later, Zyphon vanished all of a sudden as if it became invisible or something.
We heard the same gushing of wind that woke us up drew near us and there Zyphon and Kasstin suddenly reappear on the ground.
We are all astonished by their incredible show.
“So, what do y’all think, huh? Meet Zyphon, my incredible sidekick.” She told us.
“Are you sure you’re not the sidekick?” I asked. She childishly stuck her tongue out at me while rolling her eyes. She looked so fierce and yet she’s starting to act like a kid.
“We should all prepare now for our departure.” Scarlet announced.
“Can we like get a little more sleep? She unnecessarily woke us up and we’ll need as much energy as possible for the journey ahead.” I complained.
“Get one more hour of sleep then, we’ll go ahead and get ready.” She replied to me. I can’t tell if she meant it or they might actually go ahead and leave me if I did go back to sleep.
“Oh, it’s alright, I’ll get ready with you guys.” It’s better to be safe than sorry.
**moments later…**
Scarlet, Kasstin and I already prepared everything we’ll need in our journey and the sun is not even up yet. We then ate our breakfast that Tucky thoughtfully prepared for all of us and rested for a few minutes.
Kasstin went outside to tend Zyphon for a swift moment.
After a while, she entered and informed us that we’re all set for our journey.
We climbed one by one in Zyphon’s big back. Kasstin was in front and behind her was Scarlet and behind Scarlet was me. I just smiled with how are seating was arranged because I got to sit next to Scarlet. The thought of wrapping my arms around her when we take off are already sending butterflies in my stomach. I’ll even catch a whiff of her vanilla scent all throughout the ride and I just know it’s going to be the best ride I’ll ever take in my life.
“How long will it take us to reach Tynewt, Kasstin?” Scarlet asked.
“Probably around three hours or so, thus you two better hold each other tight because that’s quite a long ride.”
Oh, I would definitely hold tight.
We bid farewell to Tucky and we finally took off. I accidentally grabbed Scarlet’s waist with suddenness due to the fast and strong takeoff of Zyphon. Scarlet was startled with what happened that when we’re straightly flying ahead up in the air, I quickly removed my arms around her and apologized.
