Chapter 39

“Oh I thought you’d never ask since you’re too busy canoodling with my friend right here.” Finley sarcastically stated and Kasstin just smirked at him and I just chuckled. “Well??” she asked. Finley looks at me as if asking me if what do I think of her. I thought for a moment and I honestly think that I like her vibes. She’s sassy and yet her kindness shone right through the deed she anonymously did for the old man. I’m just not quite sure if I am to give my trust right away just because we’re vibing. Finley and I are still looking at each other and so I decided to say something before the silence kept on for too long. I looked at Kasstin and said to her, “Would you like to come some place where we could eat something? Do you know a great place around here?” I have no idea where this will be headed. I just asked her so we could spare some time in knowing her a bit more. “Is that what you really came here for? Just to ask me to eat with you? I don’t buy it.” She replied. “Is making friends forbidden now or something?” Finley asked her. “I’m just not used to it, you know. But why not? Come, I’ll take you to the best noodle house in town. I swear you’d never want to leave the place once you tasted their food! And the best part is, the privacy they give you is very convenient. If you don’t like anyone seeing how disgusting you look when you eat, then it’s the perfect place to dine in.” She suggested to us in a more cheery way. We then headed to the place she suggested and sure enough, the food and privacy is very commendable. It could also be the perfect place to talk to her about the purpose we went here for. Oh, if you’re wondering how the heck I’m eating without her recognizing me, keep wondering, I haven’t taken my mask off yet. I think I’m gonna go ahead and ask her. She seems real to me and the main reason for asking her is really based on how much character she has shown all throughout, starting from what she did to the old man to how she acts around us. I could tell she did the deed awhile back very sincerely and I honestly can see myself in her. I can also see that her sassiness doesn’t stem from bad intentions at all which sounds ironic but you’ll get what I mean. I whispered to Finley that I am going to do it already. I then finally asked Kasstin if she would be interested to join our party. I explained to her everything and she almost yelled out to the entire place that I am the princess everyone is looking for. Thank goodness, Finley was able to stop her. “So, you are the princess??” she asked softer this time. “You need not to shout again, alright? Here, make sure no one can see us and I’ll remove all of this things hiding my face.” I said to her and removed the mask covering my main face. “Oh, it is you. You did great disguising yourself. But I can’t see why you would trust someone like me? I mean have you heard about this place I’m living in??” she asked us. “We’re very skeptic about this decision actually but we saw something in you and I can feel that you’re being real. We need someone like you to join us in our main quest to defeat the real enemy here.” “What if I break your trust someday?? Wouldn’t that be such a tragedy?” she asked. “Trusting you is our decision now and proving us wrong is yours. There’s nothing we could do about that but we’re willing to take a risk because that’s how great that something we saw in you is. I think you have a good heart and you also want to fight for what is right. You could deny us now and break our trust instantly right after you walk out the door but I can tell that you’re not that kind of person.” “You’re right I’m not that kind of person but this is too spontaneous for me to make a decision right away. Also, I have my own quest at hand which I cannot simply abandon just for you. I am all with you on this mission against those ugly, heartless people but I have my own mission to fulfill first so I guess I can’t help you right now. Don’t worry, I won’t expose your identity if you’re worried about that.” She explained. Her own mission seem to be something big and serious as well. “What if we help each other with our missions?? We’ll work together to fulfill them both so that we’ll have a stronger force combined. More heads is always better than one. What do you say?” Finley suggested. “What is your mission, if I may ask?” I tried to ask her. “Since you told me yours then I think it’s safe to tell you mine. You see, my father is the kindest man you’ll ever meet. He always taught me to do good for others who deserved it. He was the greatest and he was the glue that held our family stronger. That was until someone took him away from us and the worst news we’d ever received came upon us. He was killed by someone in the royalty but no one was able to reveal to us who it was. That became my mission ever since; to find whoever killed my father so I can avenge him. My father didn’t deserved even a scratch from anyone. He deserved the world and that beast, whoever it is, ruined everything!” Kasstin explained with a choking voice, while holding back her tears. You can tell that she wants this so badly.
