Chapter 65

“Thank you so much for trusting us with that, Dudley. I do have a question as well. Does this mean that you also possess some kind of power just like your grandparents and mother?” I asked curiously. “Oh yeah, I remember when Lynnet told us the dark mages attack story, and I felt like what they didn’t see on that fight you had with the enemies was the actual magic that you could do. I’ve imagined that when she was telling the story and I can’t believe that I might be right on this one.” Finley added. “Well, I do, yeah. But it isn’t as strong as my mother’s or grandparents’ considering that I am not a full blooded elf. I am capable of healing although, not as good as the others. My human blood seem to have limited my capacity and so I am learning magic up until now which turned out pretty good in that fight you were referring to.”Dudley explained. “It’s really nice and bold of you to drop all of these information on us. We appreciate it and thank you for the trust. It’s really going to be a big help in our mission to save the kingdom. We also promise that we’ll visit more, so we can help protect the book.” I stated, with Finley agreeing with all that I said. “So, I guess that the torn and burnt pages we saw could be from a fake version of the forbidden book?” Finley asked. “Yeah, it might be. If you remember the story, no one but the creators of the book could destroy it so it is possible they just created a fake one so that the elves would think that they were able to destroy it already.” Dudley stated. “How about the dark prophecies that we saw from those torn pages that we saw? They seem to be relevant to what is happening?” Finley suddenly asked me. “Oh, that’s right. But maybe the forbidden book has a copy which the dark mages before made but it has no power conjured in it yet. Or yeah, it could really be just a full on hoax. Either way, we still need to prepare for what might come.” I declared. “Yes, and we promise to help protect the book with you. I guess our party’s mission really is a mission for everyone who would like to work against the evil forces that ruins peace and order in the kingdom or even the world.” Finley said. “Thank you as well, for doing this. And you know, I feel like something really heavy got lifted off my shoulders right now that it became lighter. I mean the weight is still there, but I feel like us, Simmons are finally not alone on this one. Thank you for that.” Dudley remarked. It felt nice to hear that from him. I knew that this family would never ever break my trust and it is such a safe place to be. But, now we need to keep them extra safe. KASSTIN’S POV Yesterday was such a pivotal day for our quest. The information we gained is such a significant factor for the battle that the kingdom is in. After we arrived in Tynewt yesterday, Finley and Scarlet told us what they found out. It’s really nice that our party is actually built on trust that they told us a very protected secret of the Simmons. But I also got to give it to those two. Their hunches were right and it led us to uncover an important part of the case. Well, today is a new day and we got to continue with our mission. I have a feeling that all that has happened, all that we discovered, might actually be linked to my dear father’s unbearable death. They don’t know this but as I work alongside them with this quest, I’ve been continuing my own quest of finding my father’s killer and giving him or her the taste of vengeance. That person sure must prepare for his last breath soon. Today seem a little less productive for the case than yesterday for me. Finley and Scarlet went back to Draco to check on the Simmons. Varan and Amos are resting inside the store. It is already night and I spent all day trying to figure out and find clues for my father’s case. So far, I’ve ruled out the possible enemies he could have had and it’s quite hard because I know my father. I don’t think he even has enemies, or if he had I am sure of it, that he’d send them gifts even or befriend them for that matter. I know him, he won’t cause any distress upon others. He has a very golden heart. Well, I am suspecting that the killer might have been jealous to my father or something. I just need to deep digger into things. It’s also nice I have friends that could help me investigate outside this party. I need external help so more chances of solving it. NARRATOR’S POV It is getting late at night and Kasstin stood outside waiting for a particular person. It was cold but she stood there withstanding it for this individual she is expecting. Varan is already asleep inside of the store but Amos is sitting in the chair near the door of the store, smoking cigar. She caught a glimpse of Kasstin outside and wondered what she was doing. It felt suspicious for him to see her outside, seemingly about to transact or something with another man. Kasstin glanced inside the store for a bit but Amos hid in the dark shadows of the store. Kasstin didn’t know that Amos was not yet asleep yet. Minutes passed by and there came a man who seem to be wearing a soldier’s uniform. It looks familiar to Amos and so he hid somewhere he can take a closer look of the man. He was shocked when he saw what appears to be a Creagan soldier. Kasstin was secretly talking to this man with something she seem to not want the party to be involved in. And it just happens that Finley and Scarlet was still in Draco protecting the Simmons. After a few minutes, Amos saw Kasstin shook the hands of the man as if they have agreed on something, and Kasstin is thanking the man. What did Kasstin possibly talked about with that man who, in the current circumstances, is part of the main enemies of the party. Amos hurriedly went to his bed when Kasstin was about to enter. He didn’t want to confront her immediately for it might look like he was watching her and invading her privacy.
