Chapter 58

1001 Words
Somewhere in the conversation we were able to talk about the recent findings our group has and he also shared his, which is fewer than I thought. But he said he just started so that is understood. After dinner and talking, it’s nearly midnight, and Amos told us that he won’t stay for the night. He would go home and just come back for tomorrow. For tomorrow, we are planning to go back to Aeredale and talk to the other elves that this Myrrh elf promised to them. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~the next day…~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Amos came barging in at the door early in the morning, when everyone was just about to wake up. He seems on edge for such this early time of the day. We managed to have woken up upon his sudden arrival. “What’s gotten into you, man??” Kasstin asked in her ‘just woke up’ voice. She seems pretty disturbed so she’s a little grumpy. Can’t blame her, I , too has my eyebrows meeting in the middle and I am just ready to punch someone. I don’t like my sleep being disturbed and I will repeat it again and again. I AM NOT A MORNING PERSON! “Aeredale needs our help now! On my way here, while I was at the town before Aeredale, I saw a group of assassins in the same attire as the ones who attacked you yesterday far across the path I was taking. I think they are headed to Aeredale. Luckily, no one from them saw me and I rushed my way here so I can tell you and we could do this together. I am part of this party now and so I must be with you in our mission. But we have to hurry now. They might have arrived there already!” he started to quickly inform us. Well, that woke me good. “Oh good heavens, you’re a fast fellow!” Kasstin said to him. We all then prepared ourselves as fast as we can and we told Amos to go ahead and just wait for our arrival in Aeredale. Few minutes later, upon arriving in Aeredale, a lot of fallen bodies has already laid themselves on the ground, thanks to Amos. But there are still a lot of them. The rest of them seem to keep on coming up. We then scattered ourselves to help Amos fight back the fierce assassins. We are coping up despite their number, especially now that Amos is on our side, helping us. His skills, along with Kasstin and Scarlet’s are impeccable. Varan is quite a warrior as well. I can also see how Scarlet is subtly but effectively using her magic with no one really noticing but me. I tried with the best of my ability to glance at Scarlet every moment I get to see if she was doing alright. I need to protect her with all that I can. Everyone else was doing alright and I just can’t help but worry about the princess. I know she is very skilled, even more skilled than I am but the universe is full of uncertainties that even Superman, the strongest man they say, also has a kryptonite. As I have feared in my mind, an assassin was about to strike her from her blind side and I can’t let that happen so I immediately withdraw from where I stood, not aware that someone was about to strike me as well. It actually saved me from being slashed into two like a fruit. I jumped on Scarlet’s blind side and tried to strike back the assassin when everything went black and the last thing I heard was clanging of swords and splashing of blood. SCARLET’S POV “FINLEYYY!!!!” I shouted from the top of my lungs when I saw Finley lying on the floor with his blood splattered all over the ground. I immediately approached him. When the rest of the party saw what happened, they tried to fill in the space where I was and defeated the ones in that area. I carried Finley and I placed him on a secluded area where I can aid him the best way possible. As he laid on my lap, I can’t help but cry over him. My hands are trembling and I can’t bear the thought of losing this special man who finally came in my life. I have only known him for a short while but my heart is safe and sound when he’s around. We have built a connection far greater than I have ever known and this time I am very sure that it is real. I am yet to spend my life with this man and this could not be the end of it all. And so, I tried to cast a healing spell that I know on him. I did it again. And again. And again. And again… It was far too late as his pulse already stopped moments ago. This can’t be! This should not be it! NO! My mind’s filling up with misery. Memories of the people who I wasn’t able to save brutally flashes on my mind; there’s father, mother, Titia and Tucky’s son. It feels like my head is about to fall at the tip of the iceberg. FINLEY’S POV Why is someone barging on the door so early in the morning? Varan, Kasstin and Scarlet came out of their beds, awoken by the noise coming from the door. Wait a minute—-Am I having a de javu?? This seems so familiar to me. This scenario right here, right now feels so much as if it already has happened. Maybe, it is de javu. We opened the door and Amos stood by the door, looking on edge. “What’s gotten into you, man??” Kasstin asked in her ‘just woke up’ voice. She seems pretty disturbed so she’s a little grumpy but we’re on the same page so I can’t really blame her.
