Chapter 34

1021 Words
As a child, he would not be allowed to engage in normal child's play. His toys were books even in a very tender age. It doesn't sound that bad because books are good but to have fun and your childhood be robbed out of your life is actually a cruel thing to do for a very young child. Imagine being forced to read at three years old and when you won't learn a simple word such as 'dog' then you would be brutally punished physically and verbally. At four, he was forced to learn how to play basketball. If he didn't learn fast, a ball would intently land in his face. He shouldn't stop until he gets it, and it should be done even if his mouth is bleeding. All throughout, his mother was only there to force him to do things for her own, selfish desires. It's like he was only made to be her puppet. He'd rather be Pinnochio and be with his loving and caring creator who stood up as his father than to live the rest of his life living with his own mother. That's why Finley never really had many friends and he has developed an extreme fear of disappointment and rejection from others most especially from his mom. Finley trekked his way to a small town named Swindmore. It was on the southern side of the kingdom opposite to Draco. This village stood up at the end of a large cliff hanging by the ends of the land. It surprisingly has been standing for a hundred years now and never did it shown any signs of risk. Beneath the cliff was a long river with a very strong current that's headed towards the Deep of Cliffrood which is a large sea shared by the kingdom of Avery and another kingdom. To Finley's surprise when he arrived in front of Swindmore, a huge and very tall stairway greeted him. It was a way towards the entrance of the small village. The cliff stood really high for that matter. He doesn't really know what to expect from the village. He started climbing up and it was a dreadful climb considering how tall the steps are. But he continued anyway because he knew it was his idea in the first place. After what seem like forever, he arrived at the gates of the small village. It was wide open and and a bunch of grand houses welcomed him. The "small" village told by Tucky turned out to be quite massive and is full of large stone houses that looks like bits from a castle thats been separated and made into whole new houses. It was filled with ordinary people but they all stood and walked with grace and sophistication. You can tell that they were wealthy folks by the way they dress and act. Finley sure did not dress for the occasion. But the people doesn't seem bothered by Finley's looks. Of course he looked handsome but his attire looks very cheap and ordinary. Nevertheless, the people kept their heads high and didn't cared at all which gives Finley an advantage to roam freely without receiving dirty looks from others. Finley continued walking but there seem to have less things to explore here. It was just tall houses with what seem to be a boring group of people just walking around normally and randomly. It looked pretty normal but Finley is starting to feel some strange vibes from the place and from the people. He continued walking and finally caught a glimpse of something different. He saw an area in the south eastern part of the village where the people are much louder than the ones he just passed by. He heard some type of an unfamiliar music resonating the area. As he went to that direction, he then saw a whole new side of the village. People were dancing and stalls were all over the sidewalks. There was like a festivity of some sort going on in it. The area is full of party banners hanging on posts and wires. There were vendors all over the different stalls. They were all selling different variety of foods and goods. The street were full of people rejoicing and dancing along the music. They seem to have a choreographed dance as soon as Finley stepped forward and it impresses him. It was like some sort of a welcoming dance for him. Then the people cheered as soon as a large shadow dimmed almost the whole street and they all looked straight above. Finley went along with it and looked up as well. He was stunned as he saw the stomach of a giant creature flew above all of them. It was a massive, fiery red dragon with a flaming horn on the middle of its forehead. It looked so fierce and scorching hot as it glows along with the burning sun. It shown off a flying exhibition that made the crowd wild. Then it flew off farther away from them. Finley was totally amused by what he saw. It was his first time seeing an actual dragon and it looked so huge above the sky. He thought that maybe, this is gonna be a whole new fun adventure after all. The various foods on the stalls look very appetizing or mouthwatering rather. Finley then decided to buy some for himself and for Tucky and Scarlet. He brought some pocket money with him which was from the money he earned from the quest. He then went ahead and chooses what he would buy when out of a sudden... A man who seem to be from the upper class came walking slowly beside Finley and subtly snatched Finley's small pouch of money. Finley only noticed when the man started walking away amongst the crowd. Finley ran after him but was slowed down by a dancing group of people. He managed to get through but can no longer see the man anywhere as he scans the crowd. Behind him, a woman was running and tumbling around in circles then she passed along Finley.
