Chapter 12

1049 Words
The man was carrying a knapsack which seem to contain something very important. As the crooks noticed him, I looked around me and when no one was around, I decided to hide behind a tree to watch them. I hid behind a tree far from them but close enough that I could still hear what they're all going to say. As I looked closer at the man, I was intrigued by the way his eyes seem to possessed depth and how it seem so soulful by just looking at them from afar. When he started talking, my eyes then rolled because I just knew that we have here an oblivious, naive yet confident first-timer adventurer. "Oh please, you have nothing to take from me, I assure you that. Do I look like I'm rich?" the man spoke. Oh, great, why would you say that to a bandit, he's making it more obvious that he's hiding something. Why would he say that while taking a tight grip of his knapsack?? Ugh, this is frustrating to watch! I can just actually ignore all this and let him take care of himself, so I can also protect my identity but they're all in my way and if I merely pass by, they'd definitely involve me, more chance of them finding out who I am. But then again, this poor, innocent boy will need much help and I cannot just stand here and watch. The interaction was starting to build up into a fight and I was flabbergasted with what was happening. These men are no ordinary bandits, they're elementalists from the dark side of magic. These are the elementalists that are taking advantage and abusing their power for their own selfish cause. It's rare to find a few of them on this side of the kingdom. With that being said, they might just really be good at hiding and blending in with the crowd. I didn't want to immediately interfere as they started conjuring their weapons elementally. They seem to have mastered their craft and that's something that I'm still working on myself. They started combating, and I continued observing them. I'm trying to discern how well this boy could fight. He seem to know his way with that sword and that's quite impressive since he really looks like a typical adventurer who just started. He's giving a strong and bold aura like nothing I have ever seen from anybody else and it's quite riveting. In some ambiguous type of way, I find myself drawn to this man, this stranger who I just happened to cross paths with in this selfish, greedy town. He knows how to fight and as a beginner, I can see that he's got a lot of potential. But as of this moment, he's still not highly strong enough to win over these elementalists masters who for all I know, has been training their whole lives, constantly elevating their magical capabilities. A rookie wouldn't stand a chance. Just as I fear it would be, he's gonna be in real jeopardy in a few moments and this time I've convinced my battling thoughts to help this poor man. I let my hair loose and summoned the fighting spirit within me. I quickly grabbed a potion inside my satchel. I'll make it seem like I just got out of a portal and try to save this chap in distress and get him far from here. I might just be his knight in shining armor. Finley's POV 'Am I to die again??' My vision started to blur out. All I can see is a misty, grayish haze and no matter how much I blink, I can't see anything clearly. Blood's rushing out of my stomach and I'm just getting weaker by the second. I feel like it's gonna be the end of me, again! Damn! Those guys really knew how to work their magic, don't they? I never thought, magic could be so incredible and yet threatening at the same time. If I am really in some sort of a game, well...you! Yes you! The one who is reading this, I am pointing at you! If I am your chosen player, you have no hope in winning this, unless you can hand me some magic, for goodness' sake! All I know right now is that the pain is real and I might really see the light at the end of the tunnel any second now. I was about to swoon from the pain when suddenly, I couldn't clearly tell but it looks like some sort of a warping space appeared out of nowhere. It looks like a gateway to another dimension when a lady abruptly rushed out of it. Looks like my consciousness is keeping me alive for a minute perhaps so I can just catch a glimpse of this woman. 'But will she kill me too??' I thought to myself. 'Well, I won't mind that much. At least I would die in the hands of a beautiful lady." I teased myself, unaware of a smile forming on my lips with my eyes closed. But then I felt my body's about to finally succumb to the pain as it was about to fall. I tried to peek a little bit as my brain's still conscious and boy, I think I might be starting to hallucinate as I saw the woman up close and I am in her arms! My sight seem to deem clearer, when her mask fell down, letting me gaze upon such a magnificent and angelic face. Her eyes and hair was really something. She was like an angel that fell down from the sky as she repeals every magic thrown at her by the big guys, with me still in her arms. Oh, she must really be strong because boy do I love food in my belly and I might be slim but do I weigh so heavy. She runs towards what I think was a portal and as soon as she stepped in, the portal mystically closed on its own. I was just lost in the way she moves. She was extremely breathtaking that I felt like I literally lost my breath as my eyes began to close for real and it was great while it lasted.
