Chapter 59

“Aeredale needs our help now! On my way here, while I was at the town before Aeredale, I saw a group of assassins in the same attire as the ones who attacked you yesterday far across the path I was taking. I think they are headed to Aeredale. Luckily, no one from them saw me and I rushed my way here so I can tell you and we could do this together. I am part of this party now and so I must be with you in our mission. But we have to hurry now. They might have arrived there already!” he started to quickly inform us. Ohh wait a minute—-I really, definitely has heard him say that already and it feels like I have heard it from him, just few minutes or hours ago! Did I dream about this?? It really feels odd and my body feels strange right now. “Oh good heavens, you’re a fast fellow!” Kasstin said to him. When she said that, I knew that something doesn’t quite add up to reality because everything is happening exactly the same as I remember it. As if everything is replaying in my mind. It feels like I’m in a Final Destination movie, honestly. We let Amos go ahead us and after preparing, on our way, everything was like flashing in my mind and I remembered the third death I just experienced again. I died! Again! This is just like the scene I had during my first encounter in this world.I died and woke up back in time. Maybe there really is some sort of replay or reverse button and it is being pressed by someone. I decided not to let the others know because they seem to have no idea at all of what I am experiencing. I will just take this chance to maybe prevent my death once again. Last time I remember, I rushed to block the assassin that was about to strike Scarlet which caused me my death. But the spot where I stood upon before jumping on Scarlet’s blind side, I was almost hit yet again. So, it’s straight to deathbed either way. I should now think of how I can escape both of the death experiences. During the fight, I switched spots with Scarlet. I faced the side where Scarlet almost died and where I actually did. I slashed at the assassin before he can even make a move. And I made sure that I had to be taking care of all my sides so no one can sneak up somewhere. I just shouted at Scarlet when on the same spot as I stood before, an assassin was also onto slicing her body. Fortunately, she was able to hear the call and escaped her supposed death. Then, I really gave my all into the rest of the fight. I must conquer it this time or else I might be facing instant death once again. With all our forces combined, we soon defeated all of them. They might have outnumbered us but I’ve been given a second ticket at victory. With many close death and even real death encounters I had, I guess I am proud that this time I have use it to my advantage. But I have to find out how in the world am I able to transcend my own death. There must be some sort of sorcery involved and I need to find that out. As I have said before, I might actually be in a video game and I might have just a certain number of lives and I would die forever after losing the last life. It might be that or I’m just watching too much of Jumanji. Well, who could resist the Rock and Kevin Hart in one frame! They’re legends. Anyway, all of us are exhausted with all the fighting that we just need a minute to rest. To our surprise, an elf looking so fierce, which you’d see less in most elves, came out the door of what we presume as her house. Standing in front of her door, she called us into her home in which we accepted and entered. Inside, she offered us water to drink the moment we were able to sit down in her living room. Narrator’s POV Meanwhile…. Somewhere in Avery, there’s a man dreading for Finley’s existence. He strangely has a significant connection with him, clueless of how it happened. He personally doesn’t really know much about Finley but one thing is clear for him right now: Finley is his burden. Finley brings him into misery and even pain. The man then eagerly investigates the connection between him and Finley to finally break it. Right now, he has nothing but has had already an encounter with Finley up close. But Finley probably won’t remember him at all. “Darn that Finley man! He’s making me miserable!!!” the man shouted as he stares intensely at the mirror. “He just can’t get enough of ruining my time and my life, does he?” As his rage grows, he can’t help but develop some intrusive thoughts towards Finley. But after some time, he also thought that those thoughts aren’t helpful for it will affect him tremendously as well. It’s quite a paradox, really. “Well, there’s really no choice here but to further scrutinize this unfortunate phenomenon that has befall upon my life.” he said to himself. “Maybe, he’d like a visit from me again…” FINLEY’S POV “Thank you for letting us in.” I said to the elf. “No worries, Myrrh has told me about you and I have caught a glimpse of your group during those fights you had here in Aeredale.”she replied. “So does that mean you already know why we’re here?” “Uh-huh, that’s why I let you in my house.” “What did Myrrh tell you exactly?” Kasstin asked. “She told me about how she suddenly invited your group to her house and that she told you about the history this place has. She also mentioned that she feels safe around all of you and that she trusts that I will be in safe hands as well. She passed to me your question about the book and I am here with you as a witness.” She explained to us.
