Chapter 53

1002 Words
“Please, stop!! It’s me! The princess!” I cried out and they were all in shock. One of the guards removed my cloak and mask and revealed my bare face. They all gasped in disbelief. “Princess, how could you do such thing??” the scared servant that’s been talking asked me. “I did not kill my own father! I got here and saw him like that, covered in his own blood! I even tried to revive him myself but I just couldn’t!” I explained to them. “Oh stop lying, princess! I saw it and it was clearly you! That is the exact thing that the killer was wearing and you’re hands are covered in blood! And you’re the only one who’s wearing something like that in this castle today and why would you even wear that? You can’t possibly tell me otherwise, princess.” “A servant handed this cloak and mask to me on the way here, saying that my father ordered me to wear them because of his sickness. That servant will tell it to you. I genuinely did not kill my father and you have been in this castle for long to know that I couldn’t do such thing, especially to one of the persons I deeply love.” “Well, now that all the servants are here, anyone of you who told the princess the king’s order and handed her the cloak and mask should come forward and tell everyone that she is telling the truth.” one of the servants proclaimed. Few minutes have passed and no one seem to be that servant. “I bet you’re just making that up as an excuse for wearing something very suspicious such as that.” a servant muttered from the crowd. “I am telling the truth and nothing but the truth. I can’t possibly have any reason to kill my father. I have been crying the moment I saw him in that state, that lifeless state. You have no idea how much my heart is breaking right now.” I genuinely said to them. “Well we all know that you and your mother are not in good terms with your father the past weeks and isn’t that a possible reason for all this?” someone anonymously said from the crowd of servants in front of the held princess. “We are just sending our concerns out to my father and that doesn’t mean that we’re not in good terms already. We love him so much and we couldn’t possibly end his life for anything at all! I defended. “Oh, what is happening here, everyone??” a voice called out from a distance. It was a familiar voice that somehow puts my eyebrows together. “Prince Demetrius, we are glad that you are here! The princess killed her father!” a servant called out to him. Then, he acts so worried and approaches us closer as if he really cares in any way. He actually cared, at least for one thing; his victory. “You! You probably killed my father! How could you?!” I yelled. “He obviously just got here, princess and we know that he couldn’t do such thing.” “He is deceiving all of you! I know I decided that I would keep everything to myself but you should know now that we’re in this situation. They are threatening our kingdom’s welfare if I didn’t marry him! We have to get together and do something” “You’re already caught red-handed, princess. Stop making things up.” Dem remarked with his faux facial expression and when no one was looking at him, he smirked at me wickedly. His mere presence boils my blood. “Don’t worry, everyone. My father and I has a mission to keep every kingdom well and safe from people like them. That is why we have secretly sent best sleuths in towns to keep a close eye on each kingdom.” “And I am actually right here.” a man revealed himself to the crowd. Murmurs started to sound like buzzing mosquitoes after the revelation. “Wow, you are good. We haven’t actually notice that you’re here among us. But we’ve heard about you and read on the papers that you’re one of the best sleuths out there who has helped many.” a servant mentioned and some of them agreed. “Thank you for that but I am here to help this kingdom. I can tell all of you, that the one who saw everything is not lying. It is the princess who killed her father. I saw her coming in the room, in that attire as if she is about to do something horrifying. She intentionally masked herself up to cover her identity and I have heard her talk about her plans to do this very thing she did today. I was going to stop her but it was too late. But my alibis would definitely give the king the justice that he deserved.” “Good work, sir. Then, it’s settled. As the higher person in this room, I declare you, guards to lock princess Scarlet up for the reason of killing her father, the king of Avery kingdom. This is for the welfare and security of this kingdom which is no longer being governed by a proper ruler. Your lives are threatened by this very act of immorality and we, the Creagan Empire would safeguard you from these dangers.” ~~~END OF FLASHBACK~~~ FINLEY’S POV It’s morning and I am glad I had a deep sleep. I could use the energy for today’s endeavors. It’s not easy to save a kingdom, for goodness’ sake. As I prepare breakfast, Scarlet came out of her small room in the store, looking so sleepy and tired. “Morning, Scar. Are you alright?” I asked her. “Not really. I barely slept last night.” she said in her tired voice.
