Gianna. Sometime during the night, I decided to go see my mum and Marcus. Luckily, they were outside their cabin — just in case I barged into any… funky things they might have been up to in their room. The thought of it made my face scrunch up in disgust. “Hi, Gia. How was your training?” Marcus asked the moment they noticed me. “It was good,” I said. “Are we leaving tomorrow?” “We’re not leaving yet,” he replied calmly. “You all need to train well. You’re part of the pack now, and the time to start defending is close. We’ll leave in a few days… weeks, if we have to.” I sighed. We were supposed to have a normal life here. But how could I be normal when I was absent most of the time? What excuse was I supposed to keep giving? School trips? Family emergencies? Lies stacked on lies?
