A while later, Noah leaned against the counter in his mother’s kitchen. Carol had insisted on offering coffee to Jake who lounged at the kitchen table, graciously talking with her. His mother glanced between him and Jake. “I’d have bet Wallace Peyton was behind all of this,” she said bluntly.
