11 Autumn and Sarah went to the Spirit Room as planned, and then to a honky-tonk kind of bar in Cornville the following night, the sort of place Autumn would never have had the guts to go to on her own. But Sarah seemed absolutely fearless about that sort of thing, and had Autumn out on the floor line-dancing with some rough-and-ready types she probably would have crossed the street to avoid if she’d been back home in Flagstaff. She definitely wasn’t in Flagstaff, though, and so she did her best to fit in. As the days passed, she began to wonder if this was going to be her new reality, if she would just gradually begin to accept the fact that this was the way the world was now, and there wasn’t anything she could do about it.
