Chapter 9 : The Unexpected Ask

Ayesha was busy prepping for the lunch rush when she saw Rajveer walk into the restaurant. He caught her eye and smiled, and Ayesha felt a flutter in her chest. She hadn't expected to see him again so soon, but she was glad he had come to visit her at her new workplace. As she took a short break, Rajveer approached her, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Hey, how's the new job treating you?" he asked, his voice low and smooth. Ayesha smiled, feeling a sense of ease around him. "It's been great so far," she replied. "I'm still getting used to the pace, but I love the creative freedom." Rajveer nodded thoughtfully. "I'm glad to hear that. You deserve it." As they chatted, Ayesha couldn't help but notice the way Rajveer seemed to be looking at her, his eyes lingering on hers in a way that made her heart skip a beat. "Ayesha," he said, his voice taking on a more serious tone. "I was wondering if you'd like to go out with me tonight. Maybe grab dinner and see a movie?" Ayesha's heart stopped. Was Rajveer asking her out on a date? She felt a rush of excitement mixed with nervousness. "I...I don't know," she stammered, trying to play it cool. Rajveer's smile faltered for a moment, but then he recovered. "No pressure, I promise," he said. "I just thought it would be nice to get to know you better outside of this place." Ayesha hesitated, unsure of what to say. But as she looked into Rajveer's eyes, she saw something there that made her want to say yes. "Okay," she said finally, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'd like that." Rajveer's face lit up with a smile. "Great," he said. "I'll pick you up at 6 pm. And wear something nice, okay?" Ayesha nodded, feeling a sense of excitement and nervousness washing over her. What had she just gotten herself into?
