A HAUNTING OF MY PAST

Rain poured down on me as I sloped down the dark empty street towards the subway station which I always loved most cause it's the only one I could afford. " please don't lock me in there am scared of the dark " I screamed but to no avail. I was always mistreated because I was the cause of my parents death and trust me my growing up was not only heartbreaking but also bodybreaking. was always beaten, chased away from homes and the worst, starved.

I grew up with nothing but once I reached 13 I had to start fending for myself. would get food my bins, steal at times and once caught would be flogged raw.When I grew up I heard to leave this shitty place, therefore I had to start now. End of memory lane .

By the time I reached home ( an empty house with some rug as a matress and a candle for light an old drower were I kept my clothes at least these I bought with some money I got. Due to the fact that I was fired I just fell on it and let sleep take over. Only after two days later did I manage to wake up and it was only due to the noise outside the abandoned house, my home . I went out and was met with tents, big blue white tents with many doctors taking care of people.

Found out that a certain hospital was giving free service to people, more like poor people. Free food was also given so since I was so hungry I just couldn't wait to go get some food and feed my starving stomach. On reaching my turn I was given some bread, milk, pancakes and an apple which made me so happy. After I went I got some medicine for my stomach since it was hurting so bad.

After that I went back to my house I guess only to find a man or should I say a doctor who was going through my staff. I had to ask him what he was doing in my place.

Ellery" how may I help u doctor"

Doctor Lim" hello Miss, do you stay here?" not after did he turn that he looked familiar to me. God he was the doctor who helped us at the hospital.

Ellery" yes, I leave here doctor is everything ok?" but then he looked at me and I decided to not to look anywhere else but his eyes.

Doctor Lim" we have a program that helps homeless people and I believe you should join. This place is dangerous for a young lady like you." but before he could go any further I had to stop him because little did he know.

Ellery" I would never be accepted there anyways so I guess I have to stay here a little longer but when I get some money I will leave. Because I knew what he was to ask next I told him everything first. I didn't expect him to say what he said next.

Doctor Lim" then I will leave with you. Am leaving tomorrow morning for America so if you will like to join me then come with me now. " At first I thought he was lying to me but then in the evening he returned and caught me off guard cause I was basically from bathing, wrapped around in my towel and getting ready for bed. Told me to prepare my staff and by the clock reached five in the morning we were on our flight, may I say private jet to New York City.
