The Apology Left Unspoken

Hearing this, and because Anirudh was gripping him so tightly, tears welled up in Moksh's eyes. The moment Anirudh noticed those tear-filled eyes, he stared at them for a long second. Then he loosened his grip and said coldly, "From today onward, you will never meet those friends of yours again." After saying that, he turned to leave, but Moksh stopped him. "But why?" As soon as Moksh questioned him, Anirudh turned around and looked at him with a stern expression. Moksh spoke again, "I didn't drink. Even if my friends mixed alcohol into my soft drink, so what? I'm about to turn eighteen, and I'll be starting college soon. I'll be an adult. If you can drink because you're an adult, then why can't I?" Hearing Moksh's words, Anirudh simply stared at him with an unreadable expression. Without saying another word, he walked away. Watching his uncle leave without answering, sadness spread across Moksh's face. He stepped out of the bathtub, took off his clothes, wrapped a towel around his waist, and walked to his bed. Without even drying himself properly, he lay down. Gradually, exhaustion and the effects of alcohol pulled him into a deep sleep. It was already midnight. Anirudh quietly opened the door to Moksh's room. Seeing him asleep in nothing but a towel, without even covering himself with a blanket, he walked to the wardrobe, took out Moksh's nightclothes, and returned to the bed. Moksh was sleeping deeply, and because of the alcohol, he didn't wake up at all. After changing his clothes, Anirudh gently laid him down properly and covered him with a blanket. Looking at Moksh's innocent sleeping face, he murmured, "You've grown up... so much that you've started arguing with me. I don't want to be strict with you, but I never want anything bad to happen to you... or to Anaya." After saying that to himself, he was about to leave when Moksh, still asleep, suddenly grabbed his hand. Anirudh looked at his face once again before gently freeing his hand and leaving the room. After returning to his own room, Anirudh went to sleep as well, and the night slowly passed. The next morning... Moksh slowly woke up. His head was pounding, and memories of everything he had done the previous night came flooding back. His eyes widened in panic as he quickly sat up, clutching his head. "Oh, shit... now that one-headed monster is definitely going to eat me alive!" The moment those words left his mouth, fear covered his face. Just then, someone knocked on his bedroom door. "Who is it?" Moksh asked. A servant standing outside replied, "Young Master, it's me." "Oh... come in, Kaka." The servant entered the room respectfully, lowered his head, and said, "Young Master, Master is calling you." The moment Moksh heard that, his heart began racing. "Okay... I'll freshen up and come." The servant nodded and left. Moksh hurried into the bathroom, quickly got ready, changed his clothes, and went downstairs. However, as he approached Anirudh, his steps gradually slowed. Finally reaching him, he saw Anirudh looking at him with the same cold expression. Anirudh handed him a few forms and said, "These are application forms for some of the top colleges. Fill out whichever one you want and give it back to me by tonight." Not hearing a single word about what had happened the previous night, Moksh slowly looked up and said, "I'm sorry, Uncle. I really didn't drink yesterday. My friends mixed alcohol into my juice." Anirudh didn't respond. Instead, he simply stood up. Just then, Anaya came running over and wrapped her arms around his waist. "Uncle, Bhaiya's birthday is coming soon. Daddy will come home, won't he?" Anirudh gently stroked her head and replied softly, "I don't know." Hearing that, sadness appeared on Anaya's face. She stepped back and looked up at him. "Why doesn't Daddy ever come home? Why doesn't he come on my birthday or Bhaiya's birthday? And why doesn't he ever talk to me?" Hearing her innocent questions, Anirudh didn't know how to answer. Even Moksh didn't know the real reason, so he looked at Anirudh as well. After a brief silence, Anirudh finally said, "Because your dad is very busy with work." Anaya didn't say anything. Anirudh smiled faintly and said, "Come on, let's have breakfast. I have to leave for the office too." The three of them sat together and began eating breakfast. Just then, Anirudh's phone rang. He answered the call, listened to the person on the other end for a moment, and then said, "Okay. I'm coming." After ending the call, he stood up to leave. At that moment, Moksh spoke. "Can't you ever even finish breakfast with us?" Anirudh glanced at him and replied, "Isn't this better for you? I won't be around to force you to eat green vegetables. Once I leave, you can eat whatever you want." Hearing those words, Moksh suddenly remembered everything he had blurted out while drunk the previous night. Guilt immediately filled his heart. By then, Anirudh had already cleaned his hands and left the house. After he was gone, Moksh sighed to himself. "I have to apologize... but how am I supposed to do that?" Lost in that thought, Moksh became increasingly worried.
