My normal day was turned upside down when I heard the words. Shanes coming back, I thought to myself. He can't. I mean I knew he was going to come back eventually I was just hoping I would be out of the pack house by then. Would he remember me? Oh, goddess I hope not. I don't have enough money yet to live on my own in the human village so maybe if I kept my head down and avoided him, he wouldn't notice me.
I finished the first floor around 8:30. I headed up to Shanes room on the 5th floor. As soon as the elevator door opened, I stepped out into the hallway. I looked to the right towards the offices and could hear shouting. I avoided that hall at all costs when I heard yelling or arguing. I turned to the left and started walking down with my bucket full of cleaning supplies. I got to Shanes door and unlocked it. I've never been inside his room before. I was never allowed to clean the 5th floor when Shane lived here and when he left they had someone clean it then lock it up. He never visited when he was away. His parents would always go to him.
I pushed the door open slowly and flipped the light on. I was hit with the smell of citrus and coconuts. His room hasn't been touched in 7 years, how did it smelled so incredible. It made me feel calm and warm. I shook my head trying to get the smell out and focus on cleaning the bedroom. It was huge with a bathroom and a walk in closet. His bed was against the left wall of his room and to the left of his bed was his bathroom and to the right of his bed in the corner was a l shaped desk. Across from his bed was another door that was to the closet and a tall dresser with a tv on it. To the right of the room was a couch and a couple chairs around a coffee table. It was still clean so I just needed to dust, make the bed and pull the sheets off the furniture. I got to work, starting in the bathroom and making my way out to the furniture in the room. I was dusting off his desk when I noticed all the drawings hanging on the wall. I didn't know Shane knew could draw. I've known him all my life, but then again I spent more time avoiding him then paying attention. I looked at the drawings hanging over his desk and saw one that looked a little familiar. It was a sketching of a girl underneath a tree with a book in her hands. Her caramel blonde hair flowed down her shoulders and a silver chain bracelet with a shop bar clasp around her wrist. The bracelet was identical to mine. My bracelet was the only thing I had when they found me as a baby not even a note just a bracelet. I wore it everyday. Did Shane draw me? And why?
"What are you doing?" I heard a voice from behind me. I turned to see Arora standing in the doorway leaning up against the frame.
"Cleaning." I answered "What are you doing?" I asked her.
"I came up here to check on you but I've found you snooping instead" she answered as she moved closer to me.
"I'm not snooping, I just noticed these drawings" I said pointing to the wall. "Did you know he drew?" I asked her, still staring at the art. "Yeah" she said walking up next to me." He was in art in middle and high school. He was really good. He once told me it was away to escape his life and duties as future alpha." Arora said, taking a closer look at the drawings. I wasn't sure why I cared but I realized that being future Alpha to one of the largest packs in America is probably a lot of pressure, maybe that's why he bullied me. It did peak my interest on why he drew me and hung me on his wall. Arora would know more about Shane then me, because she was forced to grow up around him since they were the same age she had class with him and training and meals with him. She is the Gamma's daughter after all and her bedroom is right down the hall from Shanes.
"What do you think of this one?" I asked, pointing to the little girl that I was still debating in my head if it was me. She took a closer look then gasped. "Oh my goddess! Is that you?" she exclaimed while covering her mouth. "I don't know, It kinda looks like it but the bracelet..." I trailed off pointing to the bracelet in the picture. She bent down a little closer to the picture "That's yours, why would he draw you?" She asked, looking at me confused. I shook my head. "I don’t know." I turned around and grabbed the cleaning bucket. "Im done. I have to go to class before im late." I said looking back at Arora who was still staring at the drawing. "Yeah I can give you a ride" she said, calling over her shoulder before turning on her heels and walking out the door behind me. I locked it and went downstairs to get ready for class.
"I'll meet you out front in 10?" Arora asked, I nodded my head and went down the hall to the Omaga rooms. I opened my door and stood there for a second still smelling citrus and coconuts. My head was swarming with confusion about the drawing and the incredible smell. I started pulling out a pair of jeans and a plain shirt the showed a little bit of my breast but they are a little on the big side it's hard to hide them. I went out front and climbed into Arora's car.
She pulled up to the front of my college still talking about how weird that drawing was. I told her bye and thank you for the ride, while leaning in for a huge. I got out of her car, shutting the door behind me and she pulled away. I looked at my watch at 9:58am, I started running to class so I wouldn't be late.
