Shane POV
I stood in the hall with my parents and Dereck waiting for our event planer to give us the OK to head to the dining hall. I heard the elevator ding and my head snapped up hoping it was Drew. It wasn't. I've been texting him since I landed and he wasn't responding. I know we haven't talked much since I've been gone, but he's going to be my future Beta and he was my best friend.
"Dereck, will Drew be there tonight? I've been texting him and he hasn't respond."
"Um...He hasn't shown up for much lately. Just the bare minimum required for Beta." Dereck said with an uneasy face, like he wasn't telling me something.
"Oh, Dereck, don't lie to your future Alpha. Tell him why Drew doesn't show up anymore." My father said, patting Dereck on the back.
