After talking with Drew I felt so much better. He seriously is my best friend. It was nice waking up next to Drew earlier but something didn't feel right and I couldn't figure out what it was. I didn't feel like myself. Was I getting sick? Was it Trix? I did miss all my classes today and I was suppose to have lunch with Nick and I totally slept through it.
I was sitting in the grass in the front of the school waiting for Arora to pick me up. My phone dinged and it broke me out of my thoughts. It was Arora. I'm running late. I'll be there soon.
Lovely, she's running late and I seriously didn't want to sit here any longer. Nick’s class is going to get out soon and he's going to walk right past me and I so did not want to see him right now. I was feeling a little guilty about falling asleep in Drews arms. It's just so easy to talk to Drew because he knows so much about my life and how I grew up. All I told Nick was I'm an orphan. Nick is a good guy, he never judged me and he didn't deserve being led on.
"Rose!" I heard a voice shout from behind me. I turned to see Nick waving bye to his friends and walking towards me. Great, I didn't want to see him, thanks Arora. "Hey," I said, standing up. When he reached me he leaned in for a hug. I wrapped one of my arms around him.
"Are you not staying the night tonight?" He asked, pointing to my bags on the ground. s**t! I was hoping he wouldn't notice. "Yeah, I got called to work tonight. So I'm just going to stay at the hotel tonight." All I told Nick about my living situation was that I live in a hotel that my adopted parents own and I work there as well. He's asked to come over but I've always made up an excuse how he couldn't because it's an exclusive hotel.
"Oh, ok," He said and started to wrap his arm around my waist. "I was hoping we could spend the night together. I wanted to watch a movie with you." He placed a kiss on my forehead. I looked up at him and gave him a small smile. Just then Arora pulled up and got out. She opened her trunk and looked over at us. "Hey," she said "Are you ready?" she asked, grabbing one of my bags. "Yeah" I turned to Nick "I have to go, but i'll see you later?" I asked unsure if he noticed how awkward I was being. "Yeah of course," He gave me a kiss. “I'll call you later,” he said, then turned and walked away.
I looked at Arora who was standing in front of me with her hand on her hip. "What?" I said in a snotty tone with an eyebrow raised. "Nothing," she looked down and grabbed another bag and turned and walked to her trunk. She threw the bags in the car and I got in the passenger seat.
Arora folded into the car then looked at me,"It's just," she started. Oh, here we go. "You looked so miserable with him. If your not happy why are with him?" She asked in the most nicest way she would. "I'm not miserable with him. I'm just confused. I know I like him alot but I'm beginning to question if the only reason I like him is because he's human and that would mean I'm using him and he doesnt deserve that."
I was hoping talking to Arora made me feel better but I think it just made me feel worse. I leaned my head back and took a deep breath. "Rose, it's okay. You're confused. You've had a very confusing life I wouldn't..." I jerked my head up, cutting her off "What is that smell?" I asked her, sniffing the air. It smelled like coconuts and citrus. "I don't know. I put perfume on earlier." Arora said, sniffing the sleeve of her blouse.
I leaned in and sniffed her. I knew that wasn't it. I could smell another wolf on her but who? Instead of arguing with her or confusing myself more I just agreed and let her continue. "I just smell my perfume. Are you losing your mind?" she asked me with a concerned look on her face. I leaned back and put my hand over my face. "I don't know, maybe. I am pretty tired." I mumbled through my hand. "Ok, well then let's go home and get you some rest." She put her car in drive and headed out the school parking lot.
We got to the pack house and I looked around. There were more cars than usual. "Whats going on?" I asked her. "Did you forget? Shane, he got here today." s**t! I completely forgot. I should have stayed with Nick. No, I should have stayed on the clift with Drew. I was not ready to face the boy who tormented me, my whole life. "Ugh," I sighed, rolling my eyes. "Hey, it's fine. He's so busy with seeing everyone and getting settled in. I highly doubt that he'll notice you. Especially if you're going in to take a nap." She reassured me and she was right. He was probably going to be so busy and I'm probably the last person on his mind, if he still remembered me. I nodded my head then opened my door.
Arora helped me with my bags to my room. I noticed there was quite a few she-wolves running around the house. I leaned into Arora and whispered "what is with all the girls?"
"It's Luna Mary. She brought some unmated she-wolves to the pack for Shane." she whispered back. "He's still not mated? That's a shock." Arora paused in the hall and looked at me, then we both started laughing.
Just when I started to feel at esea a she-wolf bumped into me and I could smell it, coconuts and citrus. Where was this smelling coming from and why wasnt Trix helping me with the smell or this she-wolf.
"Can we help you?" Arora said in a snotty voice. "Excuse me," the she-wolf gasped. "What did you just say?" she finished."I asked if we could help you?" The she-wolf looked down at my bags, then back at us. "Oh good, staff for the house." This chick had a lot of nerve assuming Arora was low born-staff. "Can you locate my bags and take them to the guest room on the 5th floor? Then can you make me and my friends some snacks, low carb." It sounded like questions but were complete demands.
There was a brief moment of silence in the air. I thought Arora was going to take this chick's head off but instead responded "Yeah, sure we'll get right on that." It was the nicest I've ever heard her.
My eyes widened in shock and my jaw slightly dropped. "Thanks," the she-wolf said, turning around on here heals and waving a hand in the air. "Oh my goddess did you seriously just say that?" We both started laughing.
When we got to my room, she sat my bags down on my bed. "Girl, I don't know how you do it with the small amount of clothes and even smaller room, but whatever.” She turned to the door and said “I'll see you at dinner?" Oh yeah Arora asked me to come to dinner tonight. Im sure she got permission she usually does. Friends are welcome to diners if approved but because I'm labeled as a rogue wolf I'm not allowed to sit in at dinners. Arora fought hard to get me approved for dinners. "I…don't know," I said hesitantly, "I'm not sure if I want to be around any of that."
"Come, we're not even sitting at Shanes table and Drew will be there." Arora said in a pleading voice. Oh, snap Drew! We left peacefully but with lingering awkwardness between us, but he'd make it painless to be there tonight and I don't think Drew would let anything happen to me.
"Okay, fine. I'll go," I caved.
"Yes, fantastic! Ok, I'll bring you some clothes cause it's a little formal. Ok byeeee!" She ended really fast while closing the door before I could object. I hated formal. I've never been to formal dinners but I've catered some around the pack house and they looked boring and uneventful. I laid down on my bed and closed my eyes, with my head running through everything that happened today but I kept coming back to that smell. It's like it was permanently embedded in my nose.
