Aditi's Pov
Life was never a fairy tale, so I had zero interest to become an angel.
I have seen this world through my own experience... observe it's dark side from very close distance and I am not too innocent to believe in the fairytales of love and consider myself as one of those angelic protagonists, possessing kindness, beauty, magic; those who reside in the magical world of serenity called heaven.
Heaven, for me, it never really existed. Instead it was always a myth.
I had zero connection with these myths and no interest in living in a mirrage. I was too realistic for this day dreams.
I love chaos and the world I have seen is always chaotic.
This world, itself is a heaven and a hell at the same time. You can create the heaven out of hell and make the heaven a mere hell for yourself within a blink of eyes.
I do not believe in the phrase stating that kindness brings peace - the ultimate key to heaven, but rather I think being kind to yourself is the key to heaven. And thinking about other's well being is a too reluctant thing to do for me.
I had my set of goals, entirely considering my well being, only and only mine.
Call me selfish, but that's what I am! A clever person with a clear and straight forward goal of gathering my own comfort. I reside in my own worlds that I have built over the years. I live in the dream that I have created for myself only. There was no place for love and compassion for others. It was solely based upon my betterment. It was based upon the concept of self love.
People considered my self love as self obsession. And I give zero attention to their thoughts.
Isn't life too short to think about other's opinions?
From others, I remember the people that I called, or pretend to call my family. Trust me, this pretence was necessary...This is one of those ways which leads me towards my goal and to build my own world simultaneously. And, I had to keep pretending until everything was on Uncle Rudra's name, until he transferred everything under my name. When I said everything, it included everything - the mansion, the business, money, property, fame and everything that is registered under his name, his everything.
I had set my eyes on his property and made sure to acquire it all. I knew that I won't have to complete much to get them.
And then came the one who became the barrier between me and my everything.
My sweet little cousin - Ishita!
Ahh... How could a mere name snatch my peace right away!
Yes, it can. Just like how it can break everything I have been building over the past few years!
I just hate her existence. From the core of my heart, I hate her to an extent that can't even be described in words. Yes that much romantic my hate is!
Earlier I used to ignore her existence. Because she was never an obstacle in my way. I never considered her as someone who could be able to halt my pace towards my goals.
From her childhood she was so distant from her father. I considered her to be childish. But growing up, she became more distant with everything that is related to her father. And I realised that she was knowingly distancing herself from her father. I would have seriously considered her to be a mentally retarded person, but her excellent grades in studies stopped that assumption of mine. She always avoided parties, lime lights and any means that would connected her with her father's name.
Growing up, I heard stories from servants regarding the sweet love story between Uncle Rudra and his first wife - Ishita and it's tragic end with the death of aunt Ishita. Then how he remarried and that made his first wife's daughter upset. Well, in my free time I explored more secrets about the complicated relations of the people residing in Verma mansion. And trust me, I got to know so many secrets that even Ishita never know.
I once eavesdropped the conversation that was happening between Uncle Rudra and his second wife - aunt Naysa. She was complaining to him about his ignorance towards her and her son Ayush. She was berated with the fact that Uncle Rudra put his first priority on Ishita and not on Ayush. In anger, Uncle Rudra that day revealed another big secret that immediately silenced Aunt Naysa. Both of them then mutually agreed to keep their secrets forever safe under some conditions. They were totally unaware of my presence.
And, that day, I got who my clear target was. Ayush won't be my biggest competitior but Ishita would be. I had realised that. When I tried to know Ishita, I couldn't help but first time felt happy over my luck. Or maybe as people said that universe was finally started to conspire in my favour seeing my dedication towards my goal. It has started to eliminate my competitors and for Ishita, she herself started to stay away from my path. She joined a boarding school and never came to the mansion until she was forced to because of some compulsory holidays.
When she completed her graduation, she was forced by Uncle Rudra to take a job in his company. The first thing she did after that was move into a 2 BHK flat that she had bought from the money she gas saved from her scholarships. And, from that day she managed all her expenses through the salary she received from her own father's company. According to her it was only her the deserved amount she will take in exchange of her hard work.
While in the office, her presence never really bothers me. Being a fool, she herself chose to stay out of the matter related to office politics. She was so foolish that She didn't even reveal her real identity of being the Managing Director's daughter and let me boss around her everytime I want. Every one in the office gave her orders and she followed them like an ordinary employee. I was just happy with her foolishness. What a pity! Despite of having a whole empire on a silver plate, she chose to be a normal employee earning each penny through working hard like a labour. I felt glad whenever I got moments to belittle her. Though they were almost rare, because she was so much perfect in her work. But, I am Aditi Ray. And I got what I want. When I want to criticize her, I always found my way.
But lately I stopped troubling her in office. Because I felt that here she was protected. She was too dumb to notice it, but I can sense the layer of protection around her. Rudra Verma never failed as a father. I was enough clever to understand that one wrong move from my side and I will be doomed forever. Because if Uncle Rudra loved anything after his dead wife then it was Ishita - his one and only daughter. And, no body would like to come in his bad books by harming his daughter whom he was protecting by all means.
Thus, I quit hurting her here, in this office premise. And I had no reason to worry, when Abhay Basu kept doing my work here. No... I never asked him to do anything. He himself chose to harm her, because she came in his way. Now, see Ishita... You always have to come in everyone's way, be it me or that Abhay Basu.
You are slowly becoming that obstacle in everyone's way that everyone wants to throw you in the side and move forward.
You are so fool of not understanding everyone's matter of interest and still becoming a headache to people. How innocent of you! Note the sarcasm, please.
She was not a matter of worry for me, but not now, not anymore.
"I thought you are harmless. I considered you to be not interested in your father's business. So I stopped worrying about your existence." I murmured angrily, while piercing my nails on my palm.
Yes, I always considered her a weak pawn. Even she showed herself as such. There was no aura, no perception of her being capable of being a leader. She was always an introverted techie, who would recieve her salary and do a nine to five job like any average man would do. She was happy over her six digit salary and had zero interest over her father's billion dollar worth company.
But, now everything had changed. She had made an strong appearance for the first time. Though nobody was still aware of her real identity, the whole board was shocked with her strong demeanour and dominating aura. I am afraid. What if they will got to know about her real identity! What will be my position in their eyes?
We expected her to argue for Aahan's right. When she stood up, i was all ready to witness the drama. Her argument for a mere employee, who was accused of cheating. And then I would have pointed her as a selfish person. I was already aware of the feelings blooming inside my cousin's heart for that Aahan guy. And she being unaware of those feelings were cherry on the top. I was all set to make her a villain there.
But here she turned out to be the one, who changed the whole game in a blink of eye.
Not only Aahan, but she gathered all those employees, who were fired by Mr. Abhay Basu due to his jealousy. Well, the whole office was aware of his wrongdoings, but nobody ever opposed them. Not even I dared to challenge him.
And here, Ishita digged out his whole history overnight. I could see the proud smile on Uncle Rudra's face. Well done, Cousin!
Now this is not what I have wanted. This is not going to be like this.
To be continued...
