The sound of the doorbell brought Jessica’s attention back to the present. She had to stop thinking about the dream with Anna. Greeting Mace at the door she smiled. “Hi.” Her tired smile did not reach her ears. He smelled so good it relaxed her, slowly erasing the worry she was holding inside. Mace returned the smile and took in deep breath of her scent as he leaned in to kiss her. Something was off. Her scent was off. Looking into her eyes Mace asked, “What’s wrong?” “It’s nothing. Come on in.” Stroking her face tenderly he kept her standing in front of him. “Tell me what’s bothering you.” Leaning into his touch, she felt as if she was giving into a command.
