Chapter 10 - THE RESULT

Some weeks later, Louis was due to travel outside the country for his studies. He was worried on how to break the news to Christy. He then planned for them to meet up in a restaurant so he would break the news to her.

Christy was by herself as to how to break her own news to Louis. She didn't want him to see her as a gold digger. Her family were already aware and even knew the person behind it but they didn't want to do anything that would hurt Christy. They allowed her to make her own decisions herself.

"Treasure, I'll be leaving the country next week" Louis dropped the bombshell. He was with Christy in a serene restaurant that they frequented.

"What? Wh..Why?" Christy asked, tears were already brimming in her eyes.

"Further studies. I just wanted to let you know and I want you to be strong for me" Louis said and smiled bitterly. If it wasn't for his father, he would have declined the admission and stayed with Christy because he already has a degree in Automobile Engineering.

"What about us?" Christy blurted out.

"If you want me to stay...just say the word" Louis promised.

"And your father?"

"The old man would probably disown me but it doesn't matter" Louis said with a shrug of his shoulders.

"Go. I'll be fine. When exactly are you leaving?"

"Next week" Louis said, wiping her tears with his handkerchief.

"I'll come see you off at the airport"

The day came quickly. Christy wore a flowered dress. The twins had opted to go with her to see Louis off.

"Hello..." It was Ken. He was smiling but inwardly he was also sad that Louis was leaving.

"Good day, Sir" The twins greeted.

"Are they your siblings?" Ken asked, looking at Christy.

"Yes"

"Wow! They're so identical...By the way Louis has been waiting for you. He wants to introduce you to our Dad before he travels.

"Okay"

Christy went down memory lane to the day Louis visited her at home. Her parents were very happy on seeing their daughter's boyfriend though that happened before they made their discovery... Louis pecked Christy on her forehead and she jolted out of her reverie.

"Come and meet my Dad" Louis said and left with Christy.

After all the pleasantries, Christy and her siblings started discussing with the family. Louis's dad is a strict man quite alright but he has an uncanny sense of humor. The elder sister, Rita and her husband were present as well with their Two years old son, Ivan. Ken and his heavily pregnant wife, Kerly were busy with their secret whisperings without a care in the world.

"Travellers due for Boeing airline 247 should go to the departure unit now" A female voice boomed.

The family bid Louis goodbye. Louis hugged his Dad and his sister, he shook hand with Rita's husband and hugged Ken's wife, Kerly before giving Ken a flick on his forehead after shaking hands with him.

"Make sure you send me the pictures of your baby or else..." Louis warned Ken.

Louis then hugged the twins and turned to Christy. He hated the tears that were welling up in her eyes. He then hugged her tightly.

"Stop crying. I'll call you, okay?" Louis promised.

"I... I'm..." Christy started saying as she wiped her tears.

"Come on. Don't say it. If I hear that, I might not leave again" Louis blurted, thinking that Christy was about to tell him that she was going to miss him.

"I love you" Christy said instead. She decided not to tell him about the secret so that he would be able to pursue his dreams.

"I love you more, Christy" Louis kissed her passionately there and then, ignoring the stares from his family, Christy's brothers and some passers-by.

"Did you tell him?" Valentine asked Christy immediately they got home after seeing Louis off at the airport.

"No, I couldn't" Christy replied.

"s**t! Sis, what have you done?" Valentine was so furious.

"How could I tell him that? If he learns about it, he won't leave again. I don't want to be the reason he didn't live up to his dreams" Christy explained.

"Who's talking about dreams here? When the both of you were having s*x, you didn't think of his dreams then" Valentine blurted out.

Twack! Christy gave Valentine a deafening slap.

"You must be very stupid to have made such a statement" Christy said, visibly annoyed.

"Sis, you slapped me?"Valentine asked, covering his hurting cheek with his palm.

"And I'll slap you one more time if you repeat that nonsense you just said" Christy raged on.

"Then, solve your problems yourself. After having s*x with Louis, you got pregnant for him and to tell him that he's about to become a father is now too hard for you" Valentine was really furious because he abhorred being slapped.

"Will you shut the hell up?" Valentino scolded Valentine. He soothed Christy, who was already sobbing by then and took her to her room.

Valentine came into Christy's room the next morning, looking remorseful. Valentino had given him an earful the previous night.

"Sis, I'm sorry for my outburst yesterday. I didn't mean it that way please. Find a place in your heart to forgive me" Valentine pleaded. He was really remorseful and blamed himself for not being able to control his emotions.

"It's okay. I'm also sorry for slapping you. You just had my best interest at heart" Christy said.

"Dad said we'll be moving to London next week so you have to start packing your things now" Valentine informed.

"That means I'll have to resign at my workplace" Christy inquired

"Yes"

Originally, the plan was that once Louis got to America and changed his phone number, he would call Christy, Ken and the others to give them his new number.

When he called Christy, it was indicating that the Christy's number was switched off. So, he called Ken. Ken, on the other hand, doesn't have Christy's number then, he went to the company to get the number from them.On arriving, he was told that Christy had resigned from the company and as such, her data had already been deleted from the company's employees database.

Unknown to them, Christy's phone fell down on the road and a car mistakenly ran over it so the phone got damaged.

Finally, Christy and her family boarded a first-class flight to London to start their lives over and also be nearer to their Dad's business. That same day, another plane was boarded by Ken, his Dad, his Sister and their whole family to a foreign country where Kerly will have her baby.
