CHAPTER FOUR: AVA's DECISION (AVA’s POINT OF VIEW)

1207 Words
I sat nervously across from Ethan in the coffee shop, stirring my latte absentmindedly. I had been deep in thought for days since the incident with my ex-boyfriend and was struggling with a decision. "Ethan, I've been thinking," I started, my voice hesitant. "What's on your mind?" Ethan asked, his eyes studying me closely. "I've been considering your proposal," I said, my words measured. "But I just can't seem to make up my mind." Ethan leaned in, his eyes intense. "Ava, I understand that this is a big decision for you," he said. "But I want you to know that I'll be there to support you no matter what you decide." I sighed, running my fingers through my hair. "I know that," I said. "But it's not just about me anymore. It's about us. I don't want to do something that will hurt you or our arrangement." Ethan leaned back, studying me closely. "Ava, you know that I care about you," he said. "But I also understand that you need time to think things through." I nodded, my mind still muddled with indecision. I couldn't shake the feeling that whatever decision I made would have significant consequences. As we parted ways, I walked back to my apartment deep in thought. I knew that I needed to make a decision soon, but I couldn't seem to find the clarity I needed. Suddenly, my phone buzzed, interrupting my thoughts. It was a message from an unknown number, and my heart raced as I opened it. "We need to talk," the message read. My mind raced with possibilities. Who could it be? And what did they want to talk about? I knew that I needed to find out and that whatever was coming next could change everything. I sat on the edge of my bed, staring at the message from the unknown number. My mind was racing with possibilities. Who could it be? And what did they want to talk about? I tried to recall if I had given my number to anyone new recently, but couldn't think of anyone. I even searched my social media profiles to see if there were any messages from someone I didn't know, but found nothing. I was determined to find out who sent me the message, so I decided to reach out to Ethan. He had experience dealing with these kinds of things, and I knew he would be able to help. I called him immediately and explained the situation. Ethan agreed to help and suggested we meet up to talk about it. I arrived at the coffee shop, and Ethan was already there, waiting for me. I could see the concern in his eyes as he asked me about the message. I showed him the message and watched as he took out his phone and began to type furiously. He then turned the screen towards me, revealing the results of his search. "It looks like the number is registered to a private investigator," Ethan said, his voice serious. "They're probably trying to get information on you." My heart raced as I realized the implications of what Ethan had just said. Why would someone be investigating me? Ethan noticed my distress and placed a reassuring hand on my shoulder. "Don't worry, Ava," he said. "We'll get to the bottom of this." I nodded, feeling grateful for Ethan's support. I knew that whatever was going on, I couldn't face it alone. Ethan's presence gave me the courage to keep going, and I was determined to get to the bottom of this mystery. It's possible that the mysterious message I couldn't shake the feeling that the mysterious message I received could be related to Ethan's inheritance or his love life. Ethan's family had been pressuring him to settle down and get married, so I couldn't help but wonder if the message had something to do with that. But there was also the possibility that it could be something more sinister - maybe someone was trying to dig up dirt on us, or perhaps it was someone who had a grudge against us. Sitting in the coffee shop, I felt a sense of unease. I knew that whatever the truth was, it wouldn't be easy to uncover. But I was determined to find out who was behind the message and why they wanted to talk to me. It was possible that the person who sent the message was trying to convince me not to accept Ethan's proposal, in order for him to lose his inheritance. However, at this point, I couldn't be sure what the person's intentions were. It could be someone in Ethan's family, or it could also be someone who had a personal vendetta against us. I decided that I needed to investigate further to get to the bottom of this mystery. I planned to talk to Ethan and see if he had any idea who might be behind the message. I also considered reaching out to my own contacts to see if they could help me uncover any information. But for now, I needed to focus on my decision about Ethan's proposal. I couldn't let the mysterious message distract me from my own feelings and what I truly wanted. After spending some time reflecting on my feelings, I finally came to a realization - I was in love with Ethan. I knew that the idea of marriage was daunting, especially with all the pressure from Ethan's family and the possibility of losing his inheritance. But I couldn't deny my heart, and I knew that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him. With my decision made, I decided to meet Ethan at his office to give him my answer. As I walked into the sleek, modern building, I couldn't help but feel a wave of nerves wash over me. What if he didn't feel the same way? What if his family's pressure had been too much for him? But as I approached his office, I could see the smile on his face and the glint in his eye. He knew why I was there, and he was overjoyed. Without saying a word, Ethan took my hand and led me to a private conference room. As soon as we were alone, he got down on one knee and pulled out a small velvet box. My heart raced as he opened it to reveal a sparkling diamond ring. "Ava, will you marry me?" he asked, his voice full of love and sincerity. Tears welled up in my eyes as I nodded, unable to speak. Ethan slipped the ring onto my finger and pulled me into a tight embrace. We were both filled with joy and excitement for what the future held. But as we basked in our happiness, my phone buzzed with a new message. It was from the same unknown number as before, and it read simply: "Congratulations on your engagement. But be careful who you trust." My heart sank. Who was sending me these messages, and what did they mean? I couldn't shake the feeling of unease as I tried to put on a brave face for Ethan. But deep down, I knew that this mystery was far from over.
