Friday morning, the second day of testimony began with the physical evidence. Maya sat at the defense table, her hands folded tightly in her lap as ADA Reid called his next witness. “The State calls Robert Martinez, hospital maintenance supervisor.” A man in his sixties took the stand, wearing a button-down shirt that looked uncomfortable on his broad frame. He was sworn in and sat down. “Mr. Martinez—no relation to the defendant,” Reid clarified for the jury, “you work at St. Catherine’s Medical Center?” “Yes sir.
