Third week in January. Ten inches of snow lay on the ground. Katie had finished her shift at Safeway. It had been a slow week. Not many customers. Those who could, had left the State for warmer climes. The sun shone brightly creating sparkling diamonds on the snow. Temperature was fifteen degrees. Not a cloud in the sky.
