Chapter Forty-six

1078 Words

Jason walked into the Claremont Echo office building dressed in business suit, posing as a private investigator and obtained an interview with the editor when he mentioned that Cat Stevens had come into an inheritance. Producing a fake business card, he sat before the editor’s desk, “Her aunt just died, leaving her estate to Cat Stevens, her only living relative. I’ve been hired to find her. Do you have a current address? The aunt lost contact with her niece after the deceased moved to a retirement village in Arizona.”     “The only contact I’ve had with Cat is by email,” said the editor, pulling out a pad of paper from his desk drawer. “I’ve never met her. I’ll write her email address down for you. Perhaps you can contact her using that. Good luck.” They shook hands in parting.
