CHAPTER 5

1416 Words
Dragon POV: The child, I could see was getting closer to the forest woods. She is of age today to start her training but seems to be more curious about what to explore then how to rule her people. If that is so, we may have a chance after all in living as one again. Although the prophecy has come to light with us dragons on the chosen one being born, the humans have yet to discover that the princess is to be our ruler as well, in hopes that we will be controlled and grounded by chains. That shall never happen. No matter the prophecy saying, yes the child had been born, but the fate of destiny has yet to be revealed and will be so as to when the child gets the crown. For years we have been preparing for war, in case the chosen one agrees to chain us, we will retaliate and destroy this kingdom. However...she seemed quite curious and almost certain I was some type of feline by staring into my eyes. When she called me to go to her I felt a magical pull towards her. A surge of power she may not have realized yet. She really is the chosen one. The one that will either stands with us, or against us. The child moved closer, I was about to reach my snout towards her when I heard a guard coming and I scattered away quickly, making the child fall backwards. Once a far enough distance away, I turned and lowered myself down to watch what will happen. The guard shouted that he found her and started to drag her away, he apologized before picking her up and carried her off. The child was not amused in the slightest. I crawled back up to the Frontline of the Forest Woods and watched as the guard proceeded to carry her back to the castle. I could feel her anger and the urge to run and protect her was clearly seen in my eyes as she spotted me again and stopped thrashing, only then to gesture to me to stand down, and in my head I heard her say, "Its okay, I'm fine, please don't hurt him." and the link cut off . The chosen one spoke to me, without even realizing that she did. Perhaps she will stand with us and put an end to the uprising between humans and dragons. Perhaps the prophecy was wrong. Her heart is still young and full of life, love and adventure. Although, there was still time for her heart to become corrupt with power and greed. Let us hope that she does not go down that path for power. This child is the one who will have control on everything we do, she already has the power to mind link without knowing how to do so. She needs the proper training, I must find a way to get her to the Forest Woods. We must be the ones to teach her about the things she will not learn at the castle. After they are out of view I turn back towards the river where the rest of us reside with a magical cloaking spell that makes us invisible to travelers. Even though I felt the child's presence, I cannot help but feel like there is yet another powerful source that resides somewhere in the castle. I am lost in thought when I heard a russell in the bushes behind me. I quickly go to turn and hid when a voice comes out softly, "wait, please!" It's another mind link, but how?! "please" I hear the voice again. "I know you can hear me," the voice says as a human steps from behind a tree. She is wearing royalty clothing. What is another royal doing out here? As if she heard my question she answered. "I am Queen Alrea. I am the child's mother." I was stunned to speak so I kept quiet. "Forgive me Dragon, for I had to come see you." She got down on one knee and bowed to me. Then looked up. "The Queen?" I asked. "What is the Queen doing out here all by herself," I said as I looked around, "and with no protection?" I stood up straighter, announcing my large figure. "You have been watching us for some time now dragon." the Queen said "From the moment my child Melody was born. I have felt another presence and for so long I have searched for it. But could never find it." "How do you speak to me this way if I might ask your majesty?" I was curious to know. "I am...the descendant of the king that tried to chain your kind down." She lowered her head as if in shame for her family's history. " I am truly sorry for all that was lost in that time and had hoped one day I could have the upmost pleasure in meeting a dragon." She paused, "only to say how sorry I am." I was honestly shocked to hear a descendant of the human king say such things let alone be conversing with one as if we were equals. The mere thought brought a disgusting taste to my tongue. "My daughter," She began. "She is the chosen one? From the prophecy?" The Queen looked almost hopeful in this matter. I straightened my posture and said, "She is. Yes." The Queen sighed a sigh of relief. "That is wonderful news to hear. As you may already know, her training to become Queen and take my place shall commence on the morrow." I nodded in acknowledgement that I did already know this. "How is it I have never felt your source of power before now?" I asked. The Queen only smiled, then said, "I like to keep myself hidden, just as you do dragon." And has done so very well I admit. "What will your actions be now that you know we are not a mere myth as everyone has so foolishly come to believe my dear Queen, Alrea?" I asked carefully. "Only that the destined prophecy not be fulfilled but to be changed so that you may live freely with us or in your own land with no war waging or destruction on your kind and other kingdoms." She said. "And the chosen one?" I asked. "I will personally see to it that she understands all that's magical and good. Will you help me, if I bring her to you. Teach her that you are just as kind as some humans. She will indeed become a better Queen then I with your help on conversing and training her." I must have had the look of pure shock when the Queen smiled and let out a soft chuckle then said, "Shall I take that as an understanding 'yes'"? She asked. I nodded my head and with that she bowed once more, stood up and began to take leave before she turned back around and asked, "What is your name dragon?" I studied the Queen a moment before answering, "Rageio, your majesty." The Queen bowed her head and continued out of the woods. I turned and went back to the river. When I stepped inside the invisible shield, the other dragons were staring at me. Some were shocked with the conversation, others looked sceptical, and some just didn't know what to think. The Queen had been speaking to all of us. Whatever power resides in her is of much concern. I do admit, I was very taken aback that I have never felt another's power in the castle before. Now I know why. The Queen, perhaps, may be of great use to us. To proclaim our freedom and finally be able to sore the skies. To feel the rush of the wind beneath our wings is our greatest thing. For now, I must think, I walk over to my mate who is staring at me with wide eyes. I link everyone "I will explain later, right now, I must think of how to go about things. Plans are changing drastically, keep your guard up. We don't know if this is a trap or a great new beginning. Let us rest on it. We shall discuss more of what is to come in the morning." I cut the link and curl up next to my mate, she buries her head in the crook of my neck and we soon fall asleep together.
