CHAPTER 2

"No..." I said in a whisper. My eyes were wide with fear. I called my guards. "Guards! Search the grounds, search the towers! FIND THE PRINCESS!! I want her found NOW!!" The castle was in a panic now. Everyone looking for Melody. She has done this before and disappeared but never has no one ever not been able to find her. Where has she gone off too this time. I had to think. She was very adventurous and liked to explore the castle but she has never ventured outside the castle before. Not without a guard on her heels. Richard came to my side and the moment I saw him I lost my composure and tears spilled from my eyes. He held me as he hushed me, "it's alright dear, the guards will find her." He said in a soothing voice. "But what if they don't, what if this time she had been kidnapped!?" my voice cracked "Then we will find who did it and send them to trial." he said taking both his hands on each side of my face he said, "Fear not my love, our daughter will be found and her training will commence on the morrow." he wiped a tear that escaped my watery eyes with his thumb and kissed me sweetly. I loved how this man can calm me with such words of calmness. although I could tell he was scared of the same fate for our child he would not let it show. That is what makes him a great King and I have never been so thankful to have him as mine. Another hour went by with no luck, I stepped outside and looked around. The sky was beautiful this day as I looked to each side of me, trying to see as far as I could see. It is only then that I remember the forest woods. I called one of the guards who were turning the corner. "You there, guard!" I said lifting up the hem of my gown and practically running down the steps. "Yes my Queen." he says turning to me "Has anyone gone over to the forest woods in search of the princess Melody?" I pointed to east of us. The guard gave a look towards the forest woods and shook his head "No my Queen, I will go right away and search the area" The Guard was running off towards the forest as I hollered at him "If she gives any trouble, you carry her back you hear?!" "Yes my Queen. I will carry her back." "Good" I thought to myself. Somehow I knew she may have been headed that way and I had been right. a half hour later the guard came back with Melody over his shoulder telling him to put her down. I nodded to him to do so, he gently put her down and stood in formation. Melody slowly turned around knowing her father and I were right behind her and me being so freighted for her I lost myself again and started to smother her with kisses. "Melody dear..." I took a breath to say something only for her to say, "I am sorry mother, I didn't mean to worry you, I just wanted to step outside for a moment without the guards." she seemed sorry and looked guilty for not telling someone where she was going. She looked towards her father and even though he was relieved Melody was found, he said in his dominant tone, "You have caused the castle a great deal of panic today my daughter." he paused for a moment, then continued, " As of this day also, you will be doubled with guards and not let out of site" "But father that's not fair!" Melody protested. "Tomorrow you shall start your training on becoming the next Queen in ruling and shall do so properly and adequately!" he boomed with anger. "This is not negotiable nor is it up for debate!" he says and walks away. She turns to me and I say, "Today you were going to start. But seeing as you gave everyone a good scare I think tomorrow will be best. A fresh start to the day and no more wandering off young lady, I worried so many things had happened to you dear. Please, never do that again." I said pushing a loose strand of hair from her face and tucked in behind her ear. I started to turn and walk back inside when I turned back to my daughter, who was sulking now, and I said to her, "You may also want to apologize to Sylvia as well," I said looking down, remembering the tears and the sound of fear in her voice. "That poor girl looked for you for an hour with no luck before coming to me, she was absolutely distraught that she couldn't find you in the castle." Melody hung her head in shame. "Yes mother." she said sadly, "I will apologize to her right away." she said as she went to walk past me and inside the castle.
