Chapter 7

2250 Words
When tracing my fingers over the peach pink silk fabric, it felt like I was running my fingers through warm water that's been heavily indulged with rose scented soap, the creamy feel on my skin intoxicated me. Standing in front of the mirror, the woman looking back at  me was completely unrecognizable, it scared me how I was completely able to change my appearance in the little time that I had. The dress was held up on my body by two thin spaghetti straps, I could feel the corset stitched within the fabric, when I was putting on the dress I couldn’t help but admire Kennedy’s craftsmanship and her eye for the smallest details. My breasts were pushed up completely with a deep scoop neckline. My right leg was completely exposed with a slit that rested right above my thigh. The dress was skin tight around my bodice but eventually fell loose more towards my calves and created a dramatic train of fabric behind me. I felt out of my element with this dress, exposed, but maybe it’s time to step out of my comfort zone. I can’t remember the last time I’ve been to such a big event, or even out drinking with friends. My strappy nude heels were high, covered in dazzling rhinestones. Even with my stomach in knots, I felt incredible. My hair was tied up in a high ponytail with two strands deliberately left out to fall on the sides of my face, the thing that took the most time was my makeup. I had to bring out and dust off my makeup bag, picking up a few skills from Kennedy. I paid close attention when applying. I wanted to go for a glam look, over the top. I wanted to make a lasting impression for my first ever appearance at this gala, and a small part of me wanted to see Mr. Lennox’s reaction to this ‘coffee girl’ vanishing before his very eyes.                                                                           Malachai Lennox             “There has been a lot of talk, especially from your father, that he is looking to expand the chief executive officer role into a partnership” Patricia stated, of course she would want to indulge in this matter, when this was supposed to be a serene evening to explore new business opportunities.  I brought my glass of whiskey to my lips and took a small sip while eyeing her down. Patricia Quartz, was a woman, who sat on the board of directors, early thirties complete ego maniac. I despised her greatly because she was always devising some plan to get me disbanded in this company, my company. Not only am I the owner, I am the chief executive officer, and the chairman. The only people who have a spec of power over me are the investors, and the investors are mostly made up of family members and long life long friends. The only reason why Patricia wants to disband me is because she made s****l advances towards me on multiple occasions which I declined, and now to save her bruised ego she wants me gone.             “Leave it to you Ms. Quartz to jump at any opportunity to gain any kind of power, weren’t you ever taught that patience is a virtue?” A small smirk curved into my lips as Patricia glared at me with pursed lips which gave me the indication, she had nothing else to say, or at least anything nice. We stood multiple feet apart but I could hear her heart racing as if it was a loud beating drum, the blood pulsing through her veins, the tightening of her skin as she clenched her fists.             “Alright, how about we leave this topic of conversation for the office?” Renya interrupted stepping in front of me and sliding her hands up my chest. She had on a long sleeve gold dress that stopped right at her calves, the deep V neckline exposed her breasts unapologetically every now and then I caught myself staring like a hormonal teenage boy.My current location was Renya’s villa in the Hollywood Hills. Renya’s father sat on the board of directors, he was here along with a few other members, their dates, and a few friendly tagalongs, like my legal advisor, Isaiah Hall. Of course I wouldn’t trust my entire legal handlings in his hands, he was really an assistant to the person who handled all of my court cases and legal related issues, but in the duration where I did trust him with minor things, he always seemed to outperform and in the process, he became a close acquaintance. Patricia scoffed and turned her heels walking across Renya’s living room to join the other’s in their small talks. Renya shook her head and took my drink out of my grasp.             “I think that’s enough, at least until the gala starts. Last thing anyone needs is Mr. Lennox making crude comments throughout the night” Renya whispered, setting my drink down on the nearby coffee table. She traced her fingers along the lining of my suit, which I took a huge liking to when I saw myself in the mirror for the first time after my wardrobe team put me together.             “Drunk or sober, I’m going to make comments, people are too easily offended by anything these days..” I spat while Renya was fixing my tie, she didn’t say anything, a smirk came to her lips and she shook her head.             “Speaking of the gala which starts in an hour, As the host I should be there by now, everyone is here. What exactly are we waiting for?” The gala was taking place at Lennox hall, the place where I resided most of my childhood. My parents were absolutely ecstatic for this event, but I didn’t know if they were going to make a public appearance, I’d rather they didn’t.              “That’s a great question, what is the hold up Renya?” Charles Kayn rudely interrupted the conversation between Renya and I. He was another individual who sat on the board, a complete ladies man who made inappropriate jokes and flirted with damn well every woman he set his eyes on. Behind him was the rest of the people who were here tonight, Isaiah stood beside me in a classic black and white suit. They gathered around Renya and I like impatient vultures. Renya turned away from me and brought her hands together to address the group, while I reached down and reclaimed my drink off the coffee table.              “I got off the phone with my assistant twenty minutes ago and she should be here any minute-” Renya announced nervously knowing that her coffee girl was running later than expected. I rolled my eyes at the thought of a toddler skipping around my gala causing havoc and embarrassing me. It was beyond me how someone with such little importance or title was given a VIP invite to this event.             “Is this the same assistant that gets our sandwiches when we lunch together? Why exactly is she attending? Is she part of the kitchen staff?-” Yelena asked with a confused tone, she was another member of the board and a close friend of Renya, a few scattered snickers filled the room which brought out my amusement.             “She is going to be asking for people’s autographs and taking coffee orders, maybe run a little shoe shine business on the side” I said taking a huge gulp of my drink, the room filled with laughter, except from Renya and Isaiah who stared at me with straight faces. I didn’t care for their solemn expressions. I smiled along with the rest of the group. Isaiah looked down at his feet not daring to say a word while Renya crossed her arms over her chest waiting for the laughter to die down. When it did, Renya came to the full defense of her intern.             “Seraphina is a smart kid, she has a lot of potential. She is my plus one and is going to help me conduct business transactions to help benefit this company so refrain from your condescending jokes” She hissed, the group didn’t take her seriously, but they did keep their mouths shut after hearing what she had to say. Renya gave me a warning look but I ignored it, she was way too overprotective over a girl she was just going to replace in a year or two.              After a few minutes had passed, the entire group talked as a whole, discussing minor things, mainly about the highly anticipated guests that were to attend tonight’s event. Renya had clung to my arm the entirety of the time, she was trying so hard to push the false narrative that the two of us were in some kind of relationship, when is reality, I was f*****g the girl who made the dress she was wearing. I didn’t know what else I could say to her to tell her I wasn’t interested in being anything serious with anyone.              “I’m sorry to interrupt Ms. Volce- '' Suddenly the voice of Renya’s housekeeper invaded the vast space of the living room. The inhabitants of the room dimmed their conversations and turned towards the housekeeper who stood in the entry of the living room.  The woman stepped to the side and motioned over to the side, to a person who was not yet in view but I could hear their light nervous breathing from here.             “Ms. Farris just arrived” The sound of her heels tapping lightly against Renya’s marble floors, somehow enchanted me, but it wasn’t until she was fully in the sights of everyone how truly mesmerized I was by her.             “That’s definitely not a kid…” Charles whispered raising his glass to his lips with sudden arousal. I was ashamed to admit it, but he was right. The woman who stood in front of us had ditched her round circular glasses, and beat up muddy sneakers to completely change her appearance, but that sweet delicate innocent smell remained the same. Seraphina was without question or doubt, a beautiful woman. I felt like a fool for how captivated I was after just trashing her character, my eyes dangerously wandered up her bare leg, I adored how the soft pink fabric looked on her skin, how it complimented her essence, No, what I adore is the thought of touching that fabric, ripping it apart, watching the pieces drop down to the floor, and f*****g-             “Seraphina, look at you!” Renya screamed, shoving passed me and everyone else as Seraphina walked further into the living room. Everyone held their eyes on her, I felt everyone’s emotions radiating off of them and towards Seraphina, mostly from others I felt lust and passion, or jealousy and rage. My eyes wandered along the neckline of her dress, watching her breathe nervously as she engaged in conversation with Renya, I was caught on the plumpness of her lips, and her breasts as she sucked in deep breaths for them to settle back in her dress as she exhaled.              “f**k,,” I grunted involuntarily, my head battled for sense once again but all of that self control I mastered over the years disappeared, and the animal inside of me took a liking to it. It took a liking to me thinking with me c**k instead of my head, it meant that I was losing control.             “Malachai? Dude..” Isaiah said, pulling me away from the group that was all focused on Seraphina. He turned me away from the group, taking me further to the side. I would too honestly if someone I was close to was having that kind of reaction to someone I was in a relationship with, I was getting ready for his rage, I deserved it, hell maybe it’ll pull me back from spiraling.             “Your eyes are glowing like crazy! Get it together, don’t be nervous about the gala!” Isaiah hissed in a hushed tone, if only he knew what I was really focused on. I closed my eyes and rubbed my hands over them. I shouldn’t be reacting like this, there was absolutely no way Seraphina could make years of mastery go down the drain.              “Go to the bathroom, compose yourself, I put contacts in your pockets just in case this were to happen…” Isaiah snatched the drink out from my hand and shoved me in a direction away from the others. I kept my hands over my eyes as I proceeded out from the living room             There I was locked away in the bathroom, with the sink faucet running cold water. My breathing was completely out of control. I cupped my hands together and filled my palms with water before splashing it over my face, even with a coldness of the water my eyes were still glowing a bright golden yellow with the thought of Seraphina making me increasingly dangerous and aroused. With the gala tonight, there was one uninvited guest stalking the gates waiting for a chance to break in and make an infamous appearance, the growling wolf inside of me had his sights on Seraphina and he wouldn't stop until he had his fun. In a few hours, the night sky would be lit with a full moon, and the tempestuous beast inside of me might just have an opportunity to escape.
