4 Pacing up and down the length of his library, Adam Kadmon whispered prayers under his breath, entreating the divine to show him the next step. It had seemed as if his quest had been close to completion only a few days before, but the old man had been stronger than expected. Santiago's death had left questions unanswered and Adam no longer had any hope of finding the Key unless he followed the path of the coded numbers left by the Remnant. It would take longer, but there was still time before the alignment of planets brought the dark world closer to this one, the veil between them thin enough to pierce with the Key.
