Stella woke up the next morning, in her bed, with the curtains unclosed and the lights still on, her makeup unwashed and her cloths thrown all over the floor. She sat on the edge of her bed, and looking at the floor, remembered everything that had unraveled the day before.
'I am not happy to see one of my top students and a perfect child like her downgrade like that. If this goes on and no improvement is
'Your daughter's performance in class has been getting poor lately, and her grades lower with every passing day,' said Principal Morgan. seen in her situation, I'm afraid no Ivy league school will accept her like we had planned.'
Stella's mom, sat by the chair next to Principal Morgan's desk, remained silent.
'Stella was the role model among students- students would look up to her and compete with her, which was good inspiration in this school.
But Stella's negligence lately, her absence in school activities and her mediocre grades, are not to be accepted from a bright child like her. It's either she gets back on track or forgets getting accepted into any good university out there.'
Stella's mom did not know what to say. She never expected to get called to school for anything but school appreciations, of Stella and how she was raised. She felt disappointed, sad, ashamed, and, of most; responsible. This news took her by surprise, and for a brief moment, remained in silence until she finally spoke.
'Where is she now?' she asked.
'Well, you see, during first period she ran out of class after screaming some inappropriate words, at her teacher, I assume, and then disappeared.' answered principal Morgan.
'You don't say!'
'I couldn't find her afterwards, neither could the school counselor,' said Principal Morgan, and he went on- 'Although I did send two of her friends to go after her, which is odd because, they should've been back twenty minutes ago.'
'Well I apologize, principal Morgan, and I take complete responsibility for her actions- lately I've noticed she's been forgetting what all her hard work was aimed for and she's been distracting herself with other things, and I should've put boundaries, but I didn't want to feel harsh on her.' she said.
'However, I will take in account for her actions and I'll make sure her grades and participation in school activities improvise, after all she's my only daughter, and I can't let her get off track so soon.' said Stella's mom, with sincerity.
'Very well, Miss Brians. I will keep track of her upcoming grades and if I see no higher numbers you will be called here again.'
'Okay, thank you Principal Morgan,' Stella's mom said. Standing up and reaching out her hand, she handshaked the principal.
'I will talk to her when she gets home.'
