Chapter Seventeen The second-half of the performance: Theatergoers returned to their seats after an opportunity to sip a glass of wine and to chat excitedly about what they had just experienced. The house lights dimmed and the audience quickly settled with the expectancy of more-to-come hanging in the air. The stage lights in the grid high above, glowed with increased intensity. They lit an empty stage. No set. No performers. There was a long delay and the audience started shifting nervously in their seats. Someone coughed.
