Chapter Thirty-Three Jill knew Andrea hadn’t seen the prankster. She would be concentrating on the focus-lamp at the end of the room. The focus-lamp shone a narrow beam of light at the dancers. Concentrating on the light gave them direction, kept them orientated during the spins and twirls, and helped keep them from getting light-headed. And it gave Andrea the sense of speed she needed. She watched carefully, judging the precise moment when she would spring from the top of the hoop and tuck into a triple summer-salt before landing on the floor. But then the hoop jumped from her grasp. Horrified, Jill watched Andrea drop headfirst to the floor. It was eight-feet straight down and she hit with a resounding crack.
