It’s been a day since she arrived and Fort hasn’t left her side, she had expected him to go to work this morning but He is in his sweatpants, eye glued on the movie he had made Lola choose and the giant popcorn beside him, he isn’t going anywhere. Isn’t he an FBI agent, is he allowed to do this?
It’s kind of frustrating to Lola and her plans on looking around the house for any stuff that can be helpful. Just a day here, Lola has noticed his study which he stayed for an hour after breakfast this morning. He keeps it locked, meaning he is smart not to trust her or it’s just a habit. She has also noticed his laptop which he checks after he receives a phone call and she has also noticed his poor taste in movies.
She never thought she will say it but she misses Jaime’s Marvel and horror movies obsession, its way better than these romantic comedies.
She needs to get into the study and also into his laptop, but that can’t happen if she has to be laughing too predictable rom-com with him.
Undercover is so boring.
Lola turns to Fort who is muttering the words along with the movie.
How many times has he watched this?
So when he isn’t hiding under a badge, this is what he is doing. How cute and boring.
Lola rolls her eyes turning back to TV with fake concentration as she munches on her popcorn, laughing when he does.
One hour ran as fast so as the rest of the day, they are at the end of the movie and Lola is finding it interesting.
Lola lets out a genuine laugh as the main character falls off the cliff after they have been holding him up minutes. Fort looks at her, laughing at the part that always made him cry. It’s the saddest part, so he wasn’t expecting that reaction, even Natalie cried when he forced her to watch it.
He soon forgets why he was staring at her weirdly, as he becomes hypnotized by her infectious laugh. She looks truly beautiful in spite of the fading scars on her face.
Lola can feel his eyes on her, she looks at him but he is fast enough to focus his direction back on the TV.
“You know, I know you are staring at me right?” Lola shakes her head, facing the television as the end credits rolled.
Fort turns to her knowing he has been caught, a smile on his face.
“That was the saddest part.” He throws his hands up, pointing at the TV.
“That’s the best part.” She turns to him, his heart skips a beat as their eyes meet. She is missing the spark she had in her eyes the morning they met, years ago, when she helped pick up his books.
She has this cold stare.
Soon images from that night came rushing in like his brain is in a very fast car, no breaks. Her yelling, her tears, her struggling, up until the time he blacked out. He remembers it all like it was yesterday.
“What?” Lola asks, feeling weird by the way he is staring at her.
This was it, he can ask her, how she has been, what has happened to her, how he can help.
“D- do you want pizza?” He stutters, chickening out.

While Fort is trying to figure out how he can get some answers from Lola and Lola is her best not to kill him, Jaime is outside his car, waiting.
He doesn’t know what is waiting for or for how long he is going to be out there. All he knows his that, when she needs him, he will be right out here, ready.
He is just in support of this plan, he would rather have it his way but he owes it to Lola, to stay still as she sees it through.
Jaime hits the staring wheel violently as he does every moment he comes up with some ridiculous thoughts of what might be happening in there. He doesn’t like his thoughts but he can’t just stop it.
Lola can take care of herself, he has seen it first hand, and so why is he this worried?
The sound of his phone ringing snaps him out of his thought. He turns to see who is calling.
It’s Ivan.
Jaime reaches over to the other seat to get his phone. He looks over at the bungalow before swiping to answer.
“Bro!” Ivan’s loud voice booms, which follows his loud laugh. Jaime removes the phone from his ears a little before putting it back.
“Dude, what the hell?” Jaime whispers like he is going to be caught if he talks any louder.
“Where are you?” Ivan still yelling into the phone, “I am at your place.”
“I am out.”
“Text your address let me come meet you.”
Jaime isn’t ready for Ivan’s company right now, he will just piss him off. He needs to stay sane.
“No.”
“Come on man, I have two girls here.” Ivan whines. “Babes, what are your names?”
Jaime hears faint voices from the background, he didn’t care to know their names or does he want to meet them.
“Esther and Jane,” he yelled again. “Bro, you got to meet these girls.” He laughs.
“Get out of the house and take your friends with you...” Jaime says slowly and carefully, making Ivan know he is serious.
“Geez, I am just trying to cheer you up.” Ivan sighs in defeat. “I heard that Lola isn’t going to be around for a while.”
“I am fine,” Jaime assures his friend, feeling bad that he brushed him off.
“So, you are telling me you are not stalking her right now?” Ivan says, knowing what Jaime can do when it comes to Lola.
“I am telling you to f**k off.” Jaime ignores the question. “I have work to do. “ He cuts the phone call, throwing his phone in anger.
He turns back to his unprofitable work, waiting for something to happen.
“Please be okay.” He mutters.
Jaime groans out loud as he hears his phone ring again, he is going to kill Ivan.
He picks his phone again, he spots the caller ID, his heart skips a beat as he swipes to answer.
“Mother?” Jaime calls out.
“You are up.”
