Venus pov As I trekked through the woods on my own, I tried my best to remind myself why I was doing this. My wolf instincts were telling me to turn back and go to my mate. The more sensible part of my brain reasoned that I could not let myself be a pawn for Hunter. The border patrol of Hunter's pack had barely glanced at me as I walked passed them. There were people who knew who I was mated to, but it wasn't exactly widespread knowledge throughout the pack. The guards at the border had only known me as the rogue who was granted permission to stay in the pack's territory for a while. They didn't care about me leaving; it was more important that they keep from coming into the pack.
