Hunter POV I shoved my face under my pillow in hopes to submerge myself back into sleep. I had already hit the snooze on my alarm clock twice. Unfortunately, that was the most time I could allow myself to stay in bed. Assuming that I would become alpha someday, I had to set good examples to my pack mates. That meant no nights out spent partying or drinking and absolutely no skipping school. I would never hear the end of it from my dad if I ever did either of those things. I wasn't even alpha yet and I couldn't be a normal teenage boy. Only five minutes later, I was completely showered and dressed as I walked downstairs. I expected it to be a long day at school per usual and therefore I was going to need a large breakfast to give me energy for the day. "Hey, man." said my future beta, Jason. Whereas I was still feeling groggy, he seemed to be wide awake. It was probably due to the fact that his mate, Sheila, had gotten him out of bed much earlier than I had. Jason and Sheila shared the same room, friends, and most of the time food. As most mates are, they were inseparable. Sure enough, Sheila was currently sat on Jason's lap while he spoon fed her some yogurt. Normally, I would feign disgust at their actions but today I couldn't manage it. Jealousy ripped through my chest as I watched them eat together. Jason had never seemed more put together than when he had fount Sheila as his mate. I didn't believe that I needed straightening out, but it's no wonder my dad wouldn't hand over his title until I found my mate. "Hey." I practically inhaled my breakfast. Eating quickly was the only way to get out of there fast without not eating at all. I couldn't bare sitting so close to them when they were happy because they had something I didn't. I stood after scraping off the last remnants on my plate and sped towards the front door. "I'll see you at school, Hunt." Jason said as I walked out of the kitchen. If Jason thought I had been weird during breakfast, he didn't acknowledge it. "Yeah, I'll see ya." I walked to the garage where all the pack members who live in the pack house kept their cars. My Lamborghini was parked front and center. One of the perks to being an alpha's son. The drive over to school was smooth as always and I was once again able to park in one of the spots closest to the entrance. When I stepped out of my car, people stared. They always did. It didn't matter if they saw me once a week or every day. One day I would be in charge of them and this pack, that was what made me a sight to see for them. I leaned back against my car as my best friends walked towards me. We still had some time before class started and talking here was as good as anywhere else. As the boys got together around me and greeted me, I looked over at a group of girls that were giggling and looking over at us. If only one of them was my mate, this would be so much easier. I started wondering what they were like. Any one of them could make a great Luna. "The alphas never should have allowed that rogue on our land. She could be dangerous and instead of sending her away they sent her to school with us." Jason complained snapping me out of my thoughts. He hated rogues because when he found his mate, Sheila, she was being attacked by rogues. He's always been worried for the safety of his mate since. "Yeah. She's kind of hot though." Kyle said. Kyle was one of my few good friends that didn't have a mate either. He understood how it felt to be surrounded by happy couples while we were essentially alone. I turned to see the rogue they were now looking at. She had her head down and was walking towards the doors of the school. Kyle was right. Even from here I could tell that she was beautiful. Part of me didn't even care that she was a rogue. I wanted to meet her. She made a simple tee and jeans look good and my wolf stirred inside me just by watching her. "What do you think, Hunter?" Aiden asked bringing me back to reality once again. I hoped that they didn't notice me checking her out. Jason was my best friend and I knew how he felt about rogues. I shrugged my shoulders trying to act nonchalant while stating what happened. "My parents had a meeting with the other alphas and their lunas to see if it was a good idea. There were no reports of her causing trouble to any of the other packs. I'm sure my mom didn't see the harm and you know how she has my dad wrapped around her finger. " "Your mom is kind of insane, you know that?" Jason asked. I tried not to take offense knowing he didn't mean it in a bad way. "My mom blames me and my siblings for her lack of sanity. It's true she's a bit crazy but she wouldn't do anything to put this pack in danger. I think we're safe with this rogue here." I said. "Well she didn't have to have so damn many. I mean really? Seven? There's no way I'm having that many kids." Kyle said. "Well we all know how much your parents like to spend time in the bedroom." Derek said and his mate elbowed him in the gut. "Don't talk about my parents like that." I told him. "I mean no disrespect, man. I'm just stating the facts. You wouldn't even be here if your parents never did that." Derek said. I just rolled my eyes at him. I really wasn't in the mood to talk to him about this any more. "Are you alright? You're not acting like your usual self." Jason stated. "Like myself?" I asked. "You know, a demanding asshole who is irritating as fúck." Kyle said. "Guess I'm just tired." "Who was the one that kept you up last night?" Derek said. "No one." I told them. I was done talking at this point. It was time for us to head to class anyway. I stepped away from the group and was followed by Aiden and Derek's mate, Tori. We all had history class together first. Walking through the hallway I could hear everyone gossiping about the new rogue. Many were saying they didn't like having a rogue at school. Only some had the decency to stand up for her. I clenched my fists every time someone insulted her, but my muscles relaxed once someone defended her. It shouldn't bother me so much that people talked about her. I wasn't really sure why I cared about what they said. When I stepped into my history, I saw the rogue sitting in one of the desks. My eyes met hers and that was when I knew. My wolf was screaming 'mate' at me. Now it made sense why I had been so attracted to her. Why I cared so much about the things people said about her. My mate's eyes widened as she looked back at me. She clearly didn't expect to meet me today. I know I surely didn't, but man was I glad I did. I made a move to go sit by her, before I realized there wasn't one. She had sat back in the far corner of the room. The seat in front of her was filled by a girl reading a book and in the seat directly next to her was Harvey. My blood boiled as he leaned in closer to say something to her. If anyone thought I slept with too many girls, Harvey was just as bad. If not worse. I didn't like him speaking to my mate. I let out a quiet growl and stepped towards them. Instead of pounding my fist into Harvey's face like I wanted, I was held back by Aiden. "I don't think that's a good idea." He whispered in my ear. The fact that he was right was the only reason I let him stop me. He grabbed my arm and pulled me to my usual seat in the second row. For now, he was safe. But if Harvey touched my mate he was a dead man. She was mine. My mate, my Luna, and my life. Everything would change now that I had her. She would mean everything to me and I would treat her with the love and respect she deserves so long as she lets me.
